Mastering Merlin’s Ritual in Tails of Iron 2: Winter’s Whiskers

Your quest in Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter is centered around restoring and enhancing Winter’s Edge as you anticipate the looming battle against the Darkwing threat. With the Smithy, Kitchen, and Tuck’s Emporium functioning well, it’s time to focus on upgrading your weapons to tackle the formidable enemies ahead.

To achieve this, you’ll embark on the mission called “These Blessed Tools,” where you’ll assist Rita in maximizing her smithing skills. However, simply gathering high-quality ores or ingots won’t be enough; these tools need to receive blessings from the gods so that Rita can forge the finest weapons for you.

The main questline opens up after finishing Hammer & Tongs, allowing you to choose between These Blessed Tools and two other quests.

After initiating These Blessed Tools, Rita the Smith will request your help in seeking a blessing from the gods at a shrine located in The Rift.

Travel to the Rift Docks and talk to Rita, then use fast travel to get to Bogmire Forge to save some time on your way to the shrine, which is guarded by an enormous octopus-like creature where you’ll find Rita praying.

After you talk to Rita, follow her instructions to the right to locate a Druid who can assist with the blessing ritual.

How To Get Ready For Merlin’s Ritual

Navigate through the areas, either defeating or evading enemies as you wish, until you discover a path of herbs that guides you through an archway into a new area of The Rift.

Arrive at Merlin’s Hut and expect a fight with the Frog enemies before Merlin shows himself. He agrees to help but requests your assistance in retrieving a special root from a nearby tower.

Return toward the shrine, but instead of going up the stairs, veer left to find a locked door to the tower, which you can open with Merlin’s key.

Defeat the Rift Frogs, then continue going left until you come to a series of ladders; take the leftmost ones and drop down through a hatch in the floor using another ladder.

Once you reach the bottom, speak with the Mole to obtain the T-Pass. However, you’ll need to find a new fuse to unlock the door it opens.

Where To Find A Fuse

Head to the left section of the Rift map, past the Whale Boneyard, and enter the lower caverns shown on your map.

Once inside, battle the Frog and two Tailspinners that attack you, then interact with the flashing machine in the center of the room to obtain a Yellow Fuse.

Return to the Mole’s residence and converse with it. Once the Mole inserts the fuse into the box, you’ll receive the Mole Blueprint and the doors nearby will open.

Climb up the nearest ladder, then go left into the newly accessible room and defeat the Tailspinners that you encounter.

With the enemies cleared, you can now collect the Hedgehog’s Tea Plant and head back to the shrine.

Offer the Druid the Tea and prepare to protect Merlin and Rita from the undead foes that will attack during the ritual.

The undead enemies will only be vulnerable when they get close, so remain vigilant and avoid their ranged attacks, being cautious not to let them surround you.

Once you defeat them, Merlin and Rita will complete the ritual and express their gratitude. Return to Winter’s Edge with Rita to finalize her upgrades through the next quest.
