Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero offers a variety of ranged attacks that many characters can utilize. However, if you’re on the receiving end, it can be frustrating if you don’t know how to counter them.
One of the key combat elements in the game is the ability to deflect or reflect ranged attacks like Ki blasts and beams. Mastering this skill can significantly simplify many battles. Not only do these techniques enhance your defense, but they also add a stylish flair to your character, making the effort to learn them worthwhile.
How to Deflect Beams
Beam attacks, such as Goku’s Kamehameha or Jiece’s Crusher Ball, come with a brief animation. These special moves can only be deflected and cannot be reflected back at the attacker.
In Sparking Mode, you won’t be able to deflect or reflect Ultimate Blasts. Still, you can dodge these attacks by using High-Speed Evasion.
To successfully deflect a beam attack, hold down the Super Perception button (B/Circle/Q on your controller) just before the attack hits you. This will send the beam off to the side of your character.
Deflecting a beam requires one Skill Point, and using Super Perception will consume your Ki continuously. Ensure you have enough of both before attempting to use this technique. Moreover, successfully deflecting a beam attack grants your character a temporary boost, allowing for faster Ki charging.
Tip: You should press the Super Perception button as soon as the beam’s animation begins to deflect it efficiently. If you misjudge the timing, you risk getting hit, so practicing in training mode is advisable to hone your timing.
How to Reflect Ki Blasts
Regular Ki Blasts, activated by pressing Y/Triangle/Right-Click on the mouse, can be easily deflected or avoided by dodging in any direction. However, to reflect these blasts back to the attacker, you need to time it perfectly and tap RB/R1/E just before the blast makes contact.
You can also reflect Smash Ki Blasts by using the block button, but this too requires precise timing to bounce it back. If you’re in Sparking Mode, you’ll automatically deflect most Ki blasts thrown at you, even if you don’t press any buttons.
