Mastering Khazan: A Unique Guide to Defeating Bhangau's Specter

In The First Berserker: Khazan, one of the bonus quests in Phraugh Village is known as the Night of Tragedy. In this mission, you’ll venture into the eerie village of Bhangau to track down the source of the ghostly apparitions. Prepare yourself to battle numerous undead foes, as they will revive if you fail to eliminate their spirit trails. If you’re not cautious, you might encounter swarms of enemies in different areas of the village. To wrap up your exploration, you will confront the Specter of Bhangau, a menacing spirit whose appearance feels oddly familiar.

The Specter of Bhangau serves as a counterpart to the region’s primary antagonist, Volbaino. It mimics many of Volbaino’s attacks but also introduces its own set of unique abilities, making it a formidable opponent. If you struggled against Volbaino, you will find that taking on the Specter of Bhangau poses an equally, if not more significant, challenge. A solid understanding of the game mechanics is essential for success, and as with other bosses, you can use any weapon effectively as long as you comprehend Khazan’s skillset.

Tips to Defeat the Specter of Bhangau in The First Berserker: Khazan

Recall Volbaino’s Moves and Incorporate Teleportation

The Specter of Bhangau closely resembles Volbaino in both appearance and behavior, but it comes equipped with its own distinct attacks that can catch you off guard. Like Volbaino, this spirit utilizes a hammer and chisel, slamming the chisel into the ground to ignite the battleground and creating smaller fire circles with variations of that move. While those moves might seem familiar, the new attacks require your full attention.

You’ll quickly notice that the Specter can teleport throughout the arena, often reappearing to launch a strike during combo sequences. While this can feel overwhelming, your targeting system will keep track of him as he materializes, allowing you to reposition and counterattack as soon as he reappears.

An effective tactic is to wait for the Specter to slam the chisel into the ground and then strike from behind as he attempts to pull it free. You can dodge just before he fully extracts it. Additionally, much like Volbaino, he has ranged attacks where he launches his chisel at you, followed potentially by a hammer throw. Dodge these with precision to avoid damage. Remember to use the environment, like ladders, to your advantage, just like you did in your previous battle with Volbaino.

The specter will light up the ground during the initial phase of the fight, making it wise to ascend to a higher level as quickly as possible.

When the Specter licks his chisel, it signals that you should hurry to the upper level. During the second phase, he will ignite the chisel, leading to more chaotic attacks. Watch for openings, particularly when he impacts the chisel into the floor and retrieves it. You can extinguish the fire on the chisel with successful counterattacks, simplifying the battle.

Rewards for Defeating the Specter of Bhangau

Collectibles and Fallen Guardian Set Pieces

Upon conquering the Specter of Bhangau, you’ll be rewarded with a collectible called The Happy Boy and The Deer, shedding light on the spirit’s ties to the village. The boy shared a bond with Volbaino, connecting their spirits; thus, defeating the Specter was essential to their reconciliation. Along with this collectible, you will receive two random items from the Fallen Guardian Set. Following this victory, access to the Blacksmith will be available, provided you retrieve his hammer and overcome Bearius as well.

You will also earn a random accessory and the Guardian Hooves, which are necessary for crafting the Fallen Guardian Set at the Blacksmith. If you’ve thoroughly explored the different regions, you’ll likely have several pieces of the set already. Keep in mind that specific materials are required to craft each item within these sets. Overall, the Specter of Bhangau presents a considerable challenge, bearing close similarities to Volbaino in The First Berserker: Khazan, but with some fresh moves that demand adaptability.
