Mastering Jetpack Cat: Skills, Perks, & Expert Tips

Five new characters have been introduced to Overwatch with its major 2026 update. Among them is Jetpack Cat, a Support hero designed with a jetpack that perfectly matches its name. This character was released alongside new game features that changed many important parts of the hero shooter. As the game’s popularity grows again, Jetpack Cat’s abilities have proven to be very helpful for any team.

If you haven’t played Overwatch in a while, don’t worry. Most of the game’s core systems are still the same. However, the latest update added subroles for characters, in addition to the usual Tank, Damage, and Support roles. Despite other changes, players who played before will find many familiar elements, so it’s easy to jump into matches again.

Every Jetpack Cat Ability Explained

Support Your Allies from Above While Moving Them

Jetpack Cat is similar to other flying heroes, with a lot of mobility in the air that makes it difficult for enemies to hit. But, as a Support hero, Jetpack Cat has low health and can be easily taken out if left exposed without help from teammates. It mainly fights with long-range attacks, but also has other skills.

Below is a table of all Jetpack Cat’s abilities, including passive effects that are always active:

Ability Type Cooldown Description
Biotic Pawjectiles Primary Fire 24 projectiles (reload) Shoots mid-range projectiles with a small area of effect that heals allies and damages enemies.
Jetpack Passive N/A Grants permanent flight without cooldown, allowing indefinite flying.
Frenetic Flight Alternate Fire Fuel recharge Speeds up movement in the current direction. Moving faster burns fuel slower when carrying an ally.
Lifeline Basic Ability 2 seconds Toggles into transport mode to tow an ally. Moving with an ally increases speed and heals them gradually.
Purr Basic Ability 12 seconds Creates a pulsing heal area that increases in speed. When near enemies, it knocks them back and deals damage.

The most notable skill is Lifeline, which lets Jetpack Cat carry allies across the battlefield. While being moved, allies cannot attack. Once released, both Jetpack Cat and the ally can resume combat. This ability is great for repositioning teammates safely or saving allies from danger.

Jetpack Cat also features a new subrole called “Tactician,” similar to heroes like Zenyatta, Lucio, and Ana. This subrole allows Jetpack Cat to build up excess Ultimate Charge, which carries over after using their ultimate ability. This means players can prepare for the next big move while the current one is active.

How to Use Jetpack Cat’s Ultimate

Pull Enemies Away or Off the Map

Jetpack Cat’s ultimate skill is called Catnapper. It involves dashing toward a chosen ground location, knocking down all enemies within its radius. The knockback pushes enemies away from each other and their position.

The most interesting part is that it also tethers the closest enemy to the center of the radius. Similar to Lifeline, this prevents the tethered enemy from attacking or using abilities. This can be used to deliver key enemies to your team for easy elimination or push them off the map entirely.

Keep in mind, while using Catnapper, Jetpack Cat cannot attack, and movement with Frenetic Flight will be slower. Knowing map layouts and enemy positions helps turn this ultimate into a powerful weapon to disrupt opponents.

Best Perks for Playing Jetpack Cat

When the game starts, all Perks are at Level 1. Gaining experience by eliminating enemies and supporting allies will level up your Perks. By Level 3, you can select four major or minor abilities.

For Jetpack Cat, some top Perks at Level 3 include:

  • Claws Out (Minor): Empower your melee attack every five seconds to deal extra damage and slow enemies.
  • Transport Shielding (Minor): Gain extra shields when carrying someone.
  • Headbutt (Major): Your Frenetic Flight can knock back enemies if traveling fast enough.
  • Territorial (Major): Your Purr heals more and deals damage to nearby enemies, removing knockback effects.

While all Perks are situational, Transport Shielding and Territorial are particularly effective. Extra health helps stay alive longer during delivery or repositioning, and damaging nearby enemies prevents aggressive dives on your team.

Tips & Tricks for Winning as Jetpack Cat

Communicate with Your Team to Make Big Plays

Jetpack Cat works well with characters that struggle with mobility, like Roadhog. For example, you could use Lifeline to move Roadhog behind enemy lines, then have him use a powerful ultimate to disrupt the enemy’s backline. Combining abilities with teammates can create game-changing moments.

Another useful tactic is using Lifeline to save allies falling off the map or to put teammates in better spots. Remember to coordinate and let your teammates know your plans.

Many newer characters can also help set up Jetpack Cat’s ultimate by knocking enemies out of position. Target high-threat heroes like tanks or key supports to maximize impact. Eliminating important enemies can turn the tide of the fight.

Final Thoughts

Jetpack Cat is a strong and tricky hero that offers new ways to control the battlefield. Its unpredictable flight patterns make it hard for enemies to hit, and its support abilities provide versatile tactics. Among the new characters, Jetpack Cat stands out as one of the most impactful, capable of creating memorable gameplay moments when played intelligently.
