This season, the arrival of Fortnite Gold Veins aligns with the game’s theme of wealth and the distribution of Bars among players. With recent interest in how to extract from Gold Veins stemming from the Weekly Fortnite challenges, the mining process can be a bit tricky for newcomers. While you might spot shiny gold areas on the mountains near Crime City and Shiny Shafts, these cannot be interacted with, and your pickaxe will have no effect on them. Instead, you’ll need to search for golden boulders to break apart with your harvesting tool. Here’s everything you need to know about mining Gold Veins in Fortnite.
Where to Find Gold Veins in Fortnite
Gold Veins in Fortnite are primarily located on the western side of the island, within a cloud-covered ring. They are mostly situated in the mountainous areas around Crime City, where you can find gold boulders often near roads or rivers. The locations shown on the map above provide a rough idea of where to search for them.
How to Extract Gold from Gold Veins in Fortnite
Once you’ve located the golden boulders, mining Gold Veins in Fortnite is as easy as hitting them with your harvesting tool. Each boulder has 250 HP, meaning it will take up to five strikes to break it apart, providing you with metal building materials as you go, and releasing a random amount of Bars (usually between 30 and 50 based on my experience) when destroyed.
Mining a Gold Vein will activate the Gold Rush effect, temporarily increasing your movement speed along with your pickaxe’s speed and damage against structures. This can aid in completing another weekly quest that requires you to damage opponents while under the Gold Rush effect. Alternatively, you can trigger the Gold Rush effect by using a can of Gold Splash.
