Building Decks in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket

When it comes to crafting decks in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, the options are vast, each allowing for different strategies to outmaneuver and outplay your opponents. Strategies can vary widely from aggressive approaches to more defensive and disruptive styles. Since the launch of the Mythical Island expansion, some decks have gained popularity due to their effectiveness in the current competitive landscape. Notably, those that focus on disrupting opponents’ plans and controlling the pace of the match have been especially successful. Yet, the potential of the Drednaw control deck might be underestimated by many players.

By leveraging the powers of Drednaw and Fearow, you can make it quite challenging for your opponent during matches. This often leads to significant wins, and in some cases, even causes opponents to forfeit. These less conventional cards provide a strategic edge over the more widespread Pikachu ex, Mewtwo ex, and Celebi ex decks currently prevalent in the game.

Key Cards that Empower This Deck

Drednaw and Fearow complement each other perfectly, hindering your opponent’s tactics and throwing their strategy off balance. Both cards utilize a unique ability tied to their attacks: by flipping a coin, they can discard a random energy card from your opponent’s Active Pokémon on a heads result. This can thwart an opponent’s planned attack, especially when facing off against energy-heavy decks like Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir, where energy accumulation happens swiftly. Although this ability relies on chance, having Drednaw and Fearow’s solid damage output and high hit points helps reduce the risk, making the use of this ability a smart choice.

Drednaw’s attack, Crunch, yields a noteworthy 70 damage and requires three Water Energy. While that may seem substantial, its sturdy 130 HP allows it to absorb hits from the opponent while dealing pressure. Keeping Drednaw active as long as possible in battle should be a priority, as it can block attacks while persisting with consistent damage.

Strategies to Maximize Drednaw’s Effectiveness

Given that Drednaw needs three Water Energy for its Crunch attack, including tools to accelerate energy attachment in your deck is crucial. The card Misty is a great choice for this strategy, aiding Drednaw in remaining engaged in battle and enhancing its disruptive potential.

Fearow, being a colorless Pokémon, fits nicely into the deck, allowing for flexible energy requirements. With its attack Drill Run, Fearow can inflict 50 damage while also having the chance to discard a random energy from the opponent’s Active Pokémon, all for just two colorless energy. This makes for a straightforward setup, allowing Fearow to be evolved from Spearow while Drednaw remains in play, giving you a strong fallback if you face attacks or disruptions from cards like Sabrina.

Complete Card List for the Drednaw Deck

For the Drednaw deck to function effectively, it should include various supportive cards. Using Sabrina can further disrupt your opponent by forcing them to switch out their Active Pokémon. This is particularly effective when they retreat a weaker Pokémon or when they’re setting up a critical card on the bench. Leaf also proves beneficial, lowering your retreat costs by two.

Card Name Quantity Card Type Attacks and Abilities
Chewtle 2 Basic Bite: Deals 30 damage
Drednaw 2 Stage 1 Crunch: Deals 70 damage + Flip a coin. If heads, discard a random Energy from your opponent.
Spearow 2 Basic Peck: Deals 20 damage
Fearow 2 Stage 1 Drill Run: Deals 50 damage + Flip a coin. If heads, discard a random Energy from your opponent.
Poké Ball 2 Item Retrieve one random Basic Pokémon from your deck into your hand.
Professor’s Research 2 Supporter Draw two cards.
Misty 2 Supporter Flip a coin for your Water Pokémon, attach Water Energy for each heads.
Sabrina 2 Supporter Switch out your opponent’s Active Pokémon (they choose a new one).
Leaf 2 Supporter Reduces the retreat cost of your Active Pokémon by two.
Giovanni 1 Supporter Deals +10 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon during your turn.
Potion 1 Item Heals 20 damage from one of your Pokémon.

Having a calculated strategy for drawing cards is vital. Utilize Poké Ball and Professor’s Research to effectively cycle through your deck. Overall, this Drednaw and Fearow deck excels at irritating your opponents and setting the stage for a strategic triumph in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
