Megabonk has quickly become one of the most popular indie games of 2025, selling over a million copies worldwide and instantly gaining a dedicated following. At first glance, the game seems pretty silly, but it quickly pulls players in with addictive gameplay and a simple goal: bonk waves of enemies and defeat bosses.
The game is very popular on Steam and is designed in a simple yet effective way. There are two main areas: the Forest and the Desert, each with four bosses. The game is organized into three levels called Tiers. Each Tier introduces a tougher version of the same boss from the previous Tier. Additionally, there are two secret bosses in each area that players can discover.

How to Find and Defeat All Bosses in Megabonk
Locating Bosses and Portals
When you start playing Megabonk, it might not be obvious what to do. Your main task is to find a boss portal hidden somewhere in the Forest or Desert. To locate the portals, explore the map carefully. You can follow the red threads floating in the air that point you in the right direction. Once you find a portal, a red arrow will guide you back on the mini-map.
Boss and Area Breakdown
Boss | Area | Tier | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Lil Bark | Green Forest | 1 | Circle around the boss, avoiding its stationary attacks. |
Chadbark | Deep Forest | 2 | Use a high-damage weapon and prepare for a tough final rush. |
Bark Vader | Cursed Forest | 3 | Focus on your starting weapon; destroy healing pylons fast. |
Lil Anubis | Crusty Desert | 1 | Dodge laser showers with quick movements, use tornadoes. |
Anubruh | Twilight Desert | 2 | Stay close to its feet to dodge spinning lasers. |
Juge Anubis | Blood Desert | 3 | Maximize damage output, disable secondary weapons, watch for ice projectiles. |
Suspicious Bush | Forest (All) | All | Find “Sus Bush” in the Forest; only fight when your level is at least 10-15. |
Bandit | Desert (All) | All | Locate the desert statue; study attack patterns and wait until you’re ready. |
Each area has three Tiers. The first two Tiers spawn small bosses—Stone Golem, Chunkham the Terrible, Sand Golem, or Scorpionussy—at 7 and 2 minutes into the match. The final boss appears after activating the boss portal.
As you progress through the Tiers, bosses become more difficult. The early bosses are more manageable, especially in the Forest with more escape options. The desert bosses, like Juge Anubis, are tougher, demanding a highly optimized, mobile build.
How Boss Curses Work in Megabonk
Using Boss Curses
The game also features Boss Curses, which give you big XP boosts but make the fights much harder. These curses are activated via shrines scattered across each map. When you activate a shrine, the next boss will spawn a clone of itself, making the fight a much bigger challenge.
Advice on Curses
It’s best not to use these curses until you’ve completed at least one run in each Tier. They’re especially tough against Tier 3 bosses unless you have an extremely powerful build. Facing multiple Bark Vaders or Juge Anubises is incredibly difficult and requires serious skill and preparation.
Overall, Megabonk offers a fun mix of simple mechanics and challenging encounters. It gets progressively harder as you move through the Tiers, culminating in intense battles against some of the toughest bosses. Good luck, and bonk those enemies!
