Where To Find Bears
In the game, there are two distinct types of bears, each appearing in specific biomes.

There are no specific spawn areas for bears, so if you are on the lookout for them, exploring the terrain is necessary.
Be cautious; Frost Bears inflict significantly more damage in battle.
How To Avoid Bears
Bears tend to be quite sleepy, frequently seen dozing in the open. Since they’re dangerous opponents, it can often be smarter to sneak past rather than confront them directly.
To creep by a sleeping bear, make sure to activate the sneak key, allowing your character to move quietly. Here are the default sneaking controls, which can be adjusted in the settings:
- C Key (Keyboard and Mouse)
- Right Stick (Controller/Console)
If a bear is awake, you must also stay out of its line of sight to avoid being detected.
Using a vehicle is another effective way to steer clear of bears, as these can help you escape tight spots quickly. If a bear spots you, prepare for a chase, as they are faster than your character.
How To Defeat Bears
If you choose to engage a bear, it’s advisable to bring your best weapons, enhanced charms, and some effective healing items. Bears typically use their powerful claws to strike, so be sure to dodge their attacks if you plan to get up close with a melee weapon.
Alternatively, you might find it easier to chip away at a bear’s health from a distance using a ranged weapon. Pistols are a solid choice because they have a knockback effect that can keep you at a safer distance while engaging.
Don’t forget to have an NPC companion to assist you during the battle. Even if their role is primarily to distract the bear, it can greatly increase your chances of survival.
You can also lure a bear back to your village for assistance from locals, but this comes with the risk of the bear attacking your livestock.
What Are Bear Pelts Used For?
Bear pelts are useful for crafting a variety of items, including advanced shields, the Gem Musket, and several useful charms. You can create all of these at the Crafting Bench.
Collecting pelts is essential as you pursue better gear, so hold onto any pelts you find, as some can also be located in treasure chests.
