Mastering Arlo in Pokémon GO: Your November 2024 Guide

One of the three Team Rocket Leaders you can confront in Pokémon GO is Arlo, a brilliant scientist who will challenge trainers in November 2024. To earn a range of exclusive rewards, you’ll need to defeat his Shadow Pokémon in three distinct waves. By selecting the right counters, you can significantly ease your battle against Arlo with a formidable team.

Before taking on Arlo, you must first defeat six different Team Rocket Grunts found in key locations. Only then can you create the Rocket Radar from Mysterious Components, which will help locate a Rocket Leader. Once you have the radar, you can head toward a Rocket Balloon to face Arlo, Sierra, or Cliff in Pokémon GO.

Team Rocket Grunts appear during a Team Rocket Takeover event, which typically occurs once a month. For November 2024, keep an eye out for announcements regarding when this event will occur.

Arlo’s Lineup & Counters (November 2024)

Choose Pokémon That Exploit Weaknesses

During the battle with Arlo, you must overcome three different Pokémon to win. The first wave will feature a single Pokémon, while the second and third waves may include one of three choices that Arlo selects at random, making it a challenge to prepare the right counters.

Pokémon GO Fans Call For Longer Halloween Events As The Spooky Themed Map Disappeared Within Hours

Pokémon GO fans express their frustration with Niantic after the annual Halloween event seemed to end almost as soon as it began.

Much like Dynamax raids in Pokémon GO, it’s essential to select counter Pokémon that take advantage of Arlo’s team weaknesses. While the randomness of the Leader’s Pokémon makes it impossible to create a perfect counter team, you can still strategize ahead. The table below highlights which Pokémon may be effective against some of Arlo’s options:

  • Gengar
  • Chandelure

  • Conkeldurr

Like Cliff and Sierra in Pokémon GO, all of Arlo’s Pokémon are Shadow variants, which possess increased health and damage compared to their normal forms. Thankfully, these Pokémon retain the same vulnerabilities.

Including Blaziken in your team is one of the best strategies, as it is a notable Fire/Fighting-type Pokémon. Blaziken can effectively counter Beldum, Metagross, Snorlax, and Scizor, making it a valuable asset against nearly half of Arlo’s team. Alternatively, if you need coverage against Hypno’s unpredictable Psychic-type attacks, Chandelure can be a good substitute for Blaziken.

To complete your team, consider adding a fast Electric-type paired with a resilient Water-type. Electric-types like Magnezone or Electivire can efficiently handle Charizard and Gyarados, while a Water-type can withstand damage without fear of taking significant hits from Arlo’s Pokémon. With a bulkier Water-type such as Swampert, you can also absorb some damage before deciding the best counter against Arlo’s choices.

As with any Team Rocket Leader, you have the opportunity to catch Arlo’s signature Shadow Pokémon after defeating him. These Shadow Pokémon maintain a unique trait that allows them to be captured, even when in the possession of adversaries. Consequently, you can snag a Shadow Beldum as a reward for your victory over him.

The Shadow Pokémon you capture from Arlo has a 1 in 64 chance of being a
Shiny variant in Pokémon GO. If you’re aiming to find a Shiny version of his Shadow Beldum, you may need to challenge him multiple times.

In addition, you will also receive item bundles after defeating Arlo, which include a total of 1,000 Stardust for you to utilize. You will get two item bundles that might contain:

  • 1x Unova Stone
  • 4x Revive
  • 2x Max Revive
  • 4x Hyper Potion
  • 2x Max Potion

Everyone who defeats Arlo will also receive a 12km Strange Egg, provided they have an empty Egg slot available. This Egg is likely to hatch into a rare Pokémon, adding another valuable find to your collection. Successfully conquering Arlo in Pokémon GO in November 2024 will also pave the way to facing Giovanni, the leader of the Team Rocket organization, who offers even greater rewards.
