For a lighter challenge, consider trying the NYT’s Strands game. It’s usually not too tough, and it provides hints as long as you guess valid words. You can guess as many times as you want; your only constraint is the time available in a day. Typically, I can solve it in around five minutes, so you shouldn’t feel rushed.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

This category gave me quite a bit of trouble. I even forgot how to spell “peter,” as in “petered out,” which is often followed by “ed.” I was fixated on the word "slide" and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t fitting. I tried several combinations but kept getting close without success. The answer turned out to be simple, yet it still left me a bit frustrated.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

Thankfully, I managed to nail this category! I took a moment before realizing "water" could also function as a verb. Once I connected that, I felt a wave of relief. However, the remaining categories posed a greater challenge.

Task in the Garden
PLANT
PRUNE
WATER
WEED

While I figured this one out, I spent more time than expected because I overlooked the verb aspect of "water."

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

Unfortunately, I don’t often think about shoes, which put me at a disadvantage here. Nevertheless, I suspect my grandmother would have identified them immediately. I even forgot "Mary Jane" and neglected the other options.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

This category blindsided me, and I learned about "sand piper" after the fact. I doubt I would have known about it unless my birdwatching aunt had been with me.
