As you embark on the ‘Forged of Star-Stuff’ quest, one of the various side missions in Avowed, your first task is to locate a Starmetal smithy. You will activate this quest upon discovering the initial Starmetal piece in the Living Lands, but unfortunately, the game provides no clear guidance on where to go next. There is, however, a single blacksmith in the game who specializes in forging this rare metal.
Depending on where you stand in the main storyline, your journey to this location may take some time. However, once you reach the smithy, you’ll have the chance to create two unique and powerful weapons. While these items may not be the absolute best weapons available in Avowed, they’ll still add significant value to your collection.
Advancing in the Campaign
To work with Starmetal in Avowed, you must visit Forgemaster Dela at Solace Keep, situated in Gallawain’s Tusks, the fourth and final region of the game. As you progress through the campaign, you’ll eventually unlock access to this area.
Tip:
Expect to spend about 15 to 20 hours reaching Gallawain’s Tusks in Avowed.
Bring Marius along as you approach Solace Keep. Once inside, you’ll be able to explore the area. Take the lift down to the main hall, proceed straight ahead, and descend the stairs. Here you’ll find Dela, eager to forge your Starmetal. The enthusiastic dwarf will speak briefly about his craft before offering to use the piece of Starmetal you possess to create a weapon for you.
Choosing Your Weapon: A Sword or an Arquebus
Forgemaster Dela can forge two weapons for you in Avowed: an arquebus named Moonstrike and a sword called Meteor Blade. I personally chose to craft the Moonstrike, as I’ve noticed that powerful arquebuses are generally harder to come by than swords. However, you can seek out additional Starmetal locations in Avowed to craft both weapons and even enhance them to be even more formidable.
For those seeking a weapon superior to the rewards gained from defeating Cosmina at the top of Magran’s Assay in Dawnshore, taking advantage of Dela’s forging abilities is a great choice. On higher difficulties in the game, every potent tool helps maximize your arsenal. Just remember to visit Forgemaster Dela deep within Solace Keep, and you’ll have the opportunity to craft two impressive pieces of gear to enrich your loot collection in your current Avowed playthrough.
