Death Stranding 2: On the Beach sees Sam once again enhancing the Chiral Network, beginning in Mexico. Connecting new regions helps develop the story while granting you various rewards, including fresh items and points for the skill tree. However, if you focus solely on the main missions, you might find two areas in Mexico that remain disconnected from the Chiral Network, and it won’t be obvious how to integrate the rest of the region.
To link new distribution points, towns, and shelters to the Chiral Network, Sam uses his Q-Pid. This typically happens automatically when you complete a main mission and reach a new facility. Similar to the first game, an expedition has laid the groundwork through Australia for the Chiral Network—now it’s up to Sam to persuade others to join in.
Two Preppers Are Optional When Connecting Mexico to the Chiral Network
The Bokka & The Artist
If you’re having trouble connecting all of Mexico to the Chiral Network, ensure you have progressed far enough in the main story to access the Plate Gate, which leads to Australia. The Former Geophysics Research Lab will be the last essential addition to the Chiral Network before Sam’s emotional journey continues on the other side of the world.
After that, two areas remain in Mexico, home to the Bokka and the Artist. Their locations are indicated on the map above. The Bokka is situated almost directly west of Ciudad Nudo del Norte, nestled in a valley near the mountains. The Artist resides northwest of the South Distribution Center, located high in the mountains but reachable via a steep path leading down toward the Distribution Center.
How to Connect the Bokka & The Artist to the Chiral Network
Achieve a One-Star Connection Level with Each
Even if you reach the shelters of the Bokka or the Artist, you may discover that the terminal isn’t usable. To access it, you’ll need to secure their lost cargo. You can locate items belonging to the Bokka by searching between his shelter and Ciudad Nudo del Norte and near the MULE outpost to the north. The Artist’s lost cargo generally appears along the route to her shelter starting from the South Distribution Center.
Keep an eye out for lost cargo using the Odradek Scanner throughout the game. Picking up an item will reveal the owner’s location on your map if you haven’t explored there yet.
Simply retrieving a single lost item might not convince the Bokka and the Artist to join the Chiral Network; getting each of them to a one-star connection level is essential. This usually involves delivering two or three pieces of their lost cargo. I personally found the Bokka’s lost cargo a bit harder to track down as it was more scattered, but my first trip to the Artist’s shelter yielded enough to meet the connection requirement.
Consider Completing Orders for the Bokka & The Artist After They Join the Chiral Network
Both Have Valuable Rewards
Once the Bokka and the Artist are part of the Chiral Network, their terminals will offer you missions to complete, and they will request items from other terminals. I suggest doing at least a few tasks for each because their rewards can significantly help early in the game. Boosting your connection with the Bokka to two stars and beyond will give you data for crafting delivery gear, including the first specialty boots in the game. Similarly, advancing your relationship with the Artist will unlock new customization colors for Sam’s suit and backpack.
The one-star connection requirement applies throughout the entire game. Even after reaching Australia, preppers there won’t agree to join the Chiral Network unless you’ve returned enough of their lost items to reach the full star threshold. Additionally, each terminal owner rewards you with new items for achieving the next full star on the connection scale, so taking time to complete optional missions in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach can be very beneficial, despite many being similar to the first game.
