In the tough world of Guntouchables, you and a few other survivors are among the only ones able to fight back against the Mutants taking over the planet. You’ll need to confront people infected with ticks, giant creatures that can explode, and huge mutants that command others.
The Mutants you face often change and mutate over time. They can develop new powers and skills, making them even more dangerous. It’s up to you to choose their mutations. Do you want to make weaker enemies slower but stronger? Or do you prefer to boost weaker mutants to avoid facing huge, tough enemies?
Least troubling mutations for a run
When you finish a level, you get to pick perks and upgrades for your character. Afterward, you must choose at least one mutation to apply to a specific type of enemy. These mutations tend to make enemies tougher by adding new damage effects, changing their attack types, or increasing their speed.
Note: Try to avoid applying mutations to Bile Spitters and Bile Runners unless you have no other options. They are already some of the most damaging enemies, so buffing them can make your run much harder.
Each mutant is dangerous, but a good strategy is to focus on weaker enemies like Ticks and Nymphs. Since most mutations don’t boost their health, these smaller foes can usually be killed in one or two hits with most weapons.
Crippling Hit
Applied To: Nymphs
Effect: Slows player when hit
This mutation is for Nymph enemies. Although it seems bad, most Nymphs die quickly—usually in one or two hits—and often before they get close enough to slow you down. You probably won’t be affected much by this because they have low health, and your drone can easily take out large groups before they reach you, keeping chances low for you to get slowed.
Mold Spores
Applied To: Corrupted Ground
Effect: Players stop regenerating stamina while standing on corrupted areas
Mold Spores affect the ground, not specific enemies. Since you’ll want to avoid staying on Corrupted Ground anyway—because it builds up corruption that can harm you—this mutation isn’t very risky. Getting off the contaminated patch clears the effects, making it easier to avoid issues compared to other mutations like Cryo Bile Spitters.
Mega Outbreak
Applied To: Tick Carriers
Effect: Drops more Ticks on death
Ticks are among the weakest enemies, with less health than Nymphs. Their main damage comes from them latching onto you, but Mega Outbreak isn’t too bad. When Tick Carriers die, they drop around six or seven ticks instead of a few. Ticks aren’t stronger unless you get additional Tick mutations. Your drone can quickly eliminate these ticks before they can cause trouble. Additionally, there’s a brief pause after they drop off, giving you even more time to take them out. This mutation is pretty much a free upgrade with no significant disadvantages.
Range Boost
Applied To: Bile Crawlers
Effect: Doubles attack range
This mutation makes Bile Crawlers able to attack from farther away with their poison gas. While that might seem dangerous, these enemies are slow and rarely group closely. They have low health similar to Nymphs and can usually be killed in one hit with most weapons, including your basic rifle. Your drone can also kill them easily from a safe distance, and your dash move can help you avoid their attacks altogether.
Regeneration
Applied To: Worm Stabber
Effect: Mutant heals over time
This mutation lets the Worm Stabber recover health gradually, which could be troublesome. But it’s actually a bonus because the Worm Stabber is stationary and appears only on Corrupted Ground, which you probably want to avoid. Since you can steer clear of these areas and kill the Worm Stabber from a distance—often eliminating spawn points like Incubators—you won’t have to worry about it much. Applying a mutation here is usually a good choice since it’s easy to avoid and doesn’t pose a serious threat.
This simplified overview highlights some of the key mutations and their effects in Guntouchables, helping you make smarter decisions during your escape and survival efforts.
