To achieve the optimal ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll need to consistently make wise choices during your journey. Demonstrating compassion and avoiding criminal activities are essential for obtaining a “good” conclusion, which reflects nearly all your decisions. If you’ve made choices that tarnish Henry’s reputation, reaching the game’s finest conclusion can be quite challenging.
Warning: Spoilers for the game’s ending and key story events follow.
The final moments of the game occur after the siege of Suchdol, where Henry ascends a nearby hill. Here, the spirits of Henry’s parents evaluate your previous actions, expressing either pride or disappointment based on the character you’ve developed. By completing KC: Deliverance 2 with sound judgment and keeping most of the non-playable characters (NPCs) alive, you can unlock the “best” ending.
What Is The Ideal Ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Maintain Your Honor and Ensure Everyone’s Survival
The best outcome in KC: Deliverance 2 occurs when Henry’s parents are highly proud of him, and every NPC he interacts with lives through the story. This requires making altruistic choices, which can be tough since many of those decisions complicate gameplay.
To secure the most favorable judgment from Henry’s parents, you need their approval for every significant choice. Disapproving one decision can lead to a less-than-ideal outcome, limiting your chances of achieving a positive interaction. However, even if you choose correctly, the best ending also requires refraining from negative actions outside the main storyline.
In the game, most choices aren’t strictly “bad” or “good,” as they relate more to whether you want Henry to pursue redemption or revenge throughout the narrative.
For instance, if you frequently steal from people, even from the wealthy, your parents will judge you harshly. Engaging in theft, murder, pillaging, or general wrongdoing will prevent you from attaining the best ending, even if you make morally sound choices elsewhere. As I learned too late, it’s essential to maintain high standards throughout KC: Deliverance 2 to achieve the best conclusion.
Key Decisions for the Optimal Ending
Spare Foes and Protect Your Reputation
There are five crucial choices linked to the best ending, which arise at different stages of the game. Most of these involve taking the “good” path by sparing enemies or refusing to kill during your adventure. Making morally positive choices in side quests will also contribute to a more favorable judgment from Henry’s parents in the conclusion.
After confronting the various challenges in KC: Deliverance 2, here’s what you need to do to get the best ending:
- Save Semine (Early Game)
- Stand Against the Dry Devil (Mid Game)
- Spare Brabant (End Game)
- Do Not Execute Markvart Von Aulitz (End Game)
- Rescue Samuel (Final Escape)
Your first significant choice takes place at Semine Estate, where you work for Von Bergow from Trosky Castle. During a battle here, you can save the Semines from Von Bergow’s scheme with the NPC Hashek to burn the estate. By eliminating Hashek and rescuing the Semines, you can set the estate ablaze to eliminate suspicion while preserving innocent lives.
The Dry Devil is a menacing figure who intends to incinerate an entire village during the “Dancing with the Devil” quest around the middle of the narrative. Defending the village from the Dry Devil’s attack leads to the best ending, though it makes the concluding siege more challenging. However, maintaining your honor is paramount, even if it results in more combat later in KC: Deliverance 2.
The next two choices involve sparing key enemies, starting with Brabant after your escape from Suchdol Castle. Upon reaching the Praguer’s Camp, you discover Henry’s half-brother Sam has been taken captive by Brabant. You then duel Brabant to save him. After defeating him, you can choose to kill or spare Brabant; the latter option improves your ending, despite making your escape more complex as Brabant can raise an alert.
In the same Praguer’s Camp where you battle Brabant, you’ll find a badly wounded Markvart Von Aulitz. At Suchdol Inn, you must allow Markvart to succumb to his injuries rather than execute him to move closer to achieving the best ending.
Sparing your opponents paves the way for the best outcome with Henry’s parents, provided you’ve led an honorable life. You also have the option of helping Sam escape with you from the Praguer’s Camp, preventing the Praguers from stealing Sigismund’s silver during the final chapter of the story. Although saving Sam doesn’t affect the last conversation, it might be a decent decision for your conscience.
I had to visit several churches seeking forgiveness for past actions before the final mission to secure the highest approval from Henry’s parents. To attain the best ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you must forgive others and consistently do what is right to uphold a good reputation and preserve Henry’s honor.
