If you want to ensure your weapons and armor receive top-notch protection and performance in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, regular repairs are essential, especially following tough battles. Gear that is worn out will have reduced effectiveness, meaning it needs to be maintained in a “healthy” condition. There are various methods to mend your equipment, whether by visiting specialized vendors or using your own skills.
To monitor the condition of your weapons and armor, look at their Durability, which is visible when you inspect them closely. While it’s possible to earn enough in KC: Deliverance 2 to simply purchase replacements, it’s more economical to maintain the gear you rely on. Regardless of how good the equipment you acquire, it will eventually need repairs to perform well in future encounters.
Repairing Armor
Hire a Blacksmith or Use the Right Tools
One of the easiest ways to get your armor fixed is by hiring a Blacksmith NPC located in various settlements throughout the game. You can expect to find several Blacksmiths in KC: Deliverance 2, especially during the early stages. Building a good rapport with these Blacksmiths will help you get better rates on repairs.
Some Blacksmiths you might encounter are Radovan in Tachov or Osina at Trosky Castle. When interacting with a Blacksmith, you should see an option labeled “About Repairs…” This will take you to a unique trading screen where you can negotiate for repairs.
Another option for repairing armor is to use an Armorer’s Kit. You can purchase these from Blacksmiths or find them in chests or bandit camps. When you use an Armorer’s Kit, a menu appears showing all your armor that has lost some Durability. Simply select an item from this list, and you can restore it to full Durability without spending any money.
Repairing Weapons
Learn to Sharpen Your Weapons
Fixing weapons is slightly more complicated, but similar help is available from Blacksmiths. They are equipped to restore various types of weapons, including swords, maces, and bows, for a fee.
For those looking to save some coins, Sharpening Wheels can be found outside most shops and are free to use. While it may take a bit of time to repair a weapon this way, they’re usually conveniently located right outside Blacksmiths.
To repair a weapon with a Sharpening Wheel, follow these steps:
- Interact with the Sharpening Wheel.
- Choose the weapon you want to repair.
- Start spinning the wheel.
- Rotate and move your weapon until you see sparks.
- Keep your weapon in the areas producing the most sparks.
- Repeat the last two steps until Henry mentions that the weapon is fixed.
Warning: Be cautious when using a Sharpening Wheel, as it can damage your weapon just as easily as it can repair it. If smoke rises from where your blade meets the wheel, adjust its position immediately to prevent further loss of Durability.
Certain Perks can enhance your repairs using the Sharpening Wheel. For instance, the "Razor Sharp" skill grants a 10% increase in slashing damage if you sharpen a weapon to 98% Durability or higher. This boost lasts until the weapon drops below 75% Durability, at which point you should consider repairs.
Blacksmiths may also offer a Blacksmith’s Kit, which lets you repair weapons instantly. It works similarly to Armorer’s Kits, bringing up a list of your weapons that require repair. Remember that these Kits have limited uses.
Utilizing Armorer’s Kits & Blacksmith Kits
Build Relationships and Monitor Durability
Each Armorer’s Kit and Blacksmith’s Kit has its own Durability, which decreases every time you use it to fix a piece of armor. The more damaged the item, the more Durability the Kit will expend. For example, repairing slightly worn gauntlets will consume less of a Kit than mending a nearly broken chest plate.
It’s generally advisable to use Blacksmiths and Armorer’s Kits for items that need significant repairs or those that have sustained minor damage. Items in moderate condition are often more affordable to repair through a Blacksmith, particularly if you have developed a good relationship over time. Avoid using Kits if working with a reliable Blacksmith is cheaper.
This strategy also applies to other repair Kits, like Cobbler’s Kits and Tailor’s Kits for clothing. Although you could continuously repair weapons and armor with Kits, this method can quickly deplete your valuable resources in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can effectively maintain your gear and improve your gameplay experience.
