Sects are an important part of both the single-player and social aspects of Where Winds Meet. They give you rewards for following certain rules and punish you for breaking them. Luckily, there are many exclusive rewards available, like special Sect outfits.
The Well of Heaven is a group of honest travelers who choose not to follow any powerful figures. Instead, they use their skills to protect the weak and help those in need. Below, we will explain all the ways to join the Well of Heaven Sect.
How to Start the Initiation: Well of Heaven
To begin this quest, go to Harvestfall Village in the western part of Qinghe. Talk to San Qian in the local restaurant. Pay him 200 coins for the information he offers, then follow the quest marker to head outside of town.
How to Join the Well of Heaven
Talk to the Well of Heaven Elder. Show your gratitude by paying him 999 coins. He will then ask you to steal a bag of valuable jewels from an old friend. However, this Elder is secretly a member of the Nine Mortal Ways in disguise, so you can ignore that request.
Instead, approach Zhang Yihao and ask to join the Well of Heaven. To join, you need to collect three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth, which are stolen items. Some NPCs carry these items. You can get them either by using Celestial Seize to steal them back or by asking during the Gift of Gab mini-game.
In Harvestfall Village, two pieces can be obtained from the Nine Mortal Ways member disguised as a Well of Heaven Elder, and one from San Qian at the restaurant. Another two can be found by stealing from Fu Lushou at General’s Shrine. You can find these items by using Wind Sense to check people’s inventories while walking through busy areas.
Sometimes, you can also obtain Black Market Goods by drinking wine, which sometimes contains Ill-Gotten Wealth. You can buy this wine from Hao Jiu in Harvestfall Village.
Once you have all three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth, take them back to Zhang Yihao. Turning them in will officially make you a member of the Well of Heaven, and you will instantly gain access to the Thundercry Blade martial art.
Joining the Well of Heaven After Leaving Nine Mortal Ways
If you previously stole from Zhang Yihao, returned his jewels to the fake Elder, and joined the Nine Mortal Ways, this quest method won’t work. Instead, you will need to leave the Nine Mortal Ways first.
To do this, go to the Sect page and choose Betray Master. Find Ni Laoshan in Harvestfall Village, and pay 50,000 coins to leave the sect. After paying, return to Zhang Yihao and repeat the process by collecting the three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth to join the Well of Heaven again.
