Gears of War: Reloaded is an upcoming remaster of the classic third-person shooter, set to launch in August 2025. Fans can get a taste of the enhanced experience even before then with two open beta weekends. These betas will allow players to dive into the remastered online multiplayer mode and compete in matches, all while having a chance to earn exclusive rewards during this pre-release event.

With 4K resolution and 120 FPS in multiplayer, players can expect stunning graphics and audio, making this the ultimate version of the beloved 2006 title. Additionally, new features across various platforms will offer even more ways to tailor your gameplay experience.

Players can participate in the Multiplayer Beta for Gears of War: Reloaded during two scheduled weekends this summer. With the game officially launching on August 26, 2025, these betas serve as excellent opportunities to engage in early matches and explore the game. Classic chaos returns in the multiplayer, with only minor tweaks to the original mechanics.
Below are the specific dates and times for each Multiplayer Beta:

Both Multiplayer Betas support Cross-Play across all platforms, allowing players to compete against each other regardless of their gaming system. The title will be available on five different platforms:
- Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox on PC
- Xbox Cloud Gaming
- PlayStation 5
- Steam (PC)
This cross-platform capability will also carry into the official launch at the end of August 2025. Cross progression will be available during the Multiplayer Beta, meaning any experience points gained can be transferred across platforms once the game officially releases. This feature ensures that you won’t lose any progress you’ve made in the betas.
How to Join the Gears of War: Reloaded Multiplayer Betas
Join the Action Through Three Easy Methods
To get involved during the two Multiplayer Beta weekends, you can download the beta version of the game ahead of time. However, some requirements must be met, as there is currently no physical release planned for Gears of War: Reloaded.
Here are the options available for accessing the Multiplayer Beta:
- Own a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
- Pre-order Gears of War: Reloaded for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, or Steam
- Have an active PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription
Meeting any of the above criteria will make your account eligible for the Multiplayer Beta downloads when they go live. The multiplayer experience offered is consistent across platforms. Additionally, players who join the first beta will automatically have access to the second, carrying over all their multiplayer progress.
Note that limited Multiplayer game types and modes will be featured during the beta weekends. For example, the first Multiplayer Beta will include only Team Deathmatch, while the second will highlight King of the Hill mode, originally from Gears of War.
During the first weekend, fans can expect Team Deathmatch matches that pit two teams against each other for the most kills. Classic maps will return, such as Gridlock, Raven Down, and Gold Rush.
For the second Multiplayer Beta, additional maps like Courtyard and War Machine will be included in Team Deathmatch, and the King of the Hill mode will be available, where teams will compete to control specific locations. However, only the Canals map will be featured in this mode during the second beta.
Rewards for Joining the Gears of War: Reloaded Multiplayer Beta
Earn Exclusive Cosmetics for Participating
By fulfilling one of the entry requirements to join the Multiplayer Beta, players can earn cosmetic rewards. Those who pre-order or download the Multiplayer Beta through Game Pass (Ultimate or PC) will receive two exclusive character skins for multiplayer:
- Adam Fenix (Multiplayer Character Skin)
- Anya Stroud (Multiplayer Character Skin)
Adam Fenix, the father of series protagonist Marcus Fenix, is notable for creating the Hammer of Dawn weapon, which may appear prominently in the multiplayer modes. Anya Stroud, former director of Delta Squad, joins the battle as an exclusive skin that cannot be found elsewhere.
Importantly, Game Pass users can easily download these skins for immediate use. Likewise, those who pre-order either a physical or digital copy will also gain access to these skins, even within the multiplayer betas.
Make sure to have enough storage space available on your platform to download the beta as the multiplayer test windows open. Once everything is set, you can jump into Gears of War: Reloaded early during the Multiplayer Beta weekends, accumulating XP that will carry over into the official release in August 2025.
