This weekend, many of you will be heading to Limveld for the Closed Network Test of FromSoftware’s newest title. A key question on everyone’s mind is: Can you play Elden Ring Nightreign by yourself? While the game is fundamentally designed for co-op play, allowing three players to join forces against numerous bosses on a progressively shrinking map, some of you may prefer to take on this challenge alone.
Fortunately, it is possible to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo if you wish to confront the Night’s Tide without help. That said, FromSoftware does recommend bringing a few friends along. A well-balanced team consisting of a tank, damage dealer, and support role will significantly improve your chances against the game’s toughest bosses. However, there are a few important restrictions to keep in mind before you jump into the beta this weekend.
Party Sizes for Elden Ring Nightreign
The official party size for Elden Ring Nightreign is three players. FromSoftware designed this upcoming game to enable three friends to team up and face challenges together. The structure includes a roguelike element, meaning that death can end your current run. Be aware that there is also no crossplay available, so you’ll be limited to players on the same console. For example, PS4 players can team up with PS5 players, but interaction with PC or Xbox users is not possible.
Although playing Elden Ring Nightreign solo is an option, keep in mind that the game does not adjust the difficulty for lone players – you’re in for a rough ride. Interestingly, the game does not support two-player sessions; if you want to jump in, you’ll need a third player to start. This might seem like an odd choice, but perhaps future gameplay sessions during the Closed Network Test will shed light on this decision.
