The topic of romance in Avowed is one many players discuss, as it’s often seen as a standard element in RPGs featuring companions. Obsidian has previously mentioned that you can’t pursue romantic relationships with your companions in the game because they wanted to ensure relationships were handled thoughtfully. While you won’t be able to charm your party members throughout your adventure in the Living Lands, we’ve found that there is a romantic opportunity available during the game’s epilogue. Here’s how to initiate a romance in Avowed.
Can You Romance Companions in Avowed?
While traditional romance mechanics are absent in Avowed, you can occasionally flirt with party members through dialogue. However, this won’t lead to deeper relationships during your journey. That said, there is an opportunity to develop a romantic connection with Kai by the end of your adventure. Here’s how to make it happen:
- Always engage with Kai at the Avowed Party Camp and treat him kindly.
- Complete Kai’s personal quest.
- When the option arises, openly share your feelings for Kai.
Keep in mind that your character’s appearance or backstory, chosen during character creation, doesn’t influence the romance opportunity with Kai. If you follow the steps above, Kai will reciprocate your feelings and suggest that once your adventure concludes, you can both see where things lead.
After completing the story, an additional scene during the epilogue will confirm the romance that unfolds between you and Kai. While some may wish for more, that’s the extent of romance in Avowed, but at least you get a happy conclusion!
