Is Resetti in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? That’s a common question, and anyone who’s played an Animal Crossing game before might remember the grumpiest mole in the series. Mr. Resetti used to scold players if they didn’t save before quitting. Despite his tough attitude, many of us still wonder where Resetti has gone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
With the recent 3.0 update, the cranky mole makes a return—though not in the way you might expect. Now, when you access your NookPhone, there’s a new Reset Service option. This allows you to send Resetti (get the pun?) to tidy up a part of your island.
Although he lost his job several years ago after lead developer Aya Kyogoku mentioned that Resetti “was laid off” in 2019, he was later removed from Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS. That was a pretty harsh move. However, the same developer later shared that Resetti now has a new role, this time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Before the 3.0 update, Resetti only appeared through the Rescue Service, helping players if they got stuck or acting as a fast travel option when you had enough Nook Miles. His signature whiskey nose and builder’s hat are visible on the app icon.
When you call the Rescue Service, the voice and music remind you of Resetti, although he’s acting as the dispatcher, not appearing physically in the game. I thought the more you used this service, the more chances I’d get to hear him scold me again, or maybe mess up the dispatch and end up in his office. But no matter how often I tried, I always ended up in the place I requested. Still, the game is full of Resetti hints and references, even outside of the rescue calls.
Here’s a taste of how he’s still in the game: during the Rescue Service outro, his voice is unmistakable, and he’s clearly acting as the voice behind the service.
In the 3.0 update, Resetti’s new role is actually helpful. You can ask him to clean up your beach, island, or specific areas. He can toss out items he cleans up or put them into storage for you. So, Resetti is no longer just the angry mole—now he’s a helpful part of your island management. That’s a nice change, don’t you think?
