Escape Plan Quest in Avowed
In the video game Avowed, the "Escape Plan" is a brief side quest where you assist Glaedwine and Leoflaed, a couple seeking refuge, in their attempt to flee Paradis. This quest presents a significant moral choice: do you adhere to the laws of the Empire, or do you choose a more humane course of action?
In this guide, you’ll find a comprehensive breakdown of the Escape Plan quest, covering everything from locating Ondra’s Kiss to obtaining the Land Deeds, how to deal with smugglers, and the implications of deciding whether to report Glaedwine and Leoflaed.
How to Begin the Escape Plan
To kick off the Escape Plan side quest, start by locating Remei Gardiola. Upon exiting Liviana’s Clinic, head up the nearby stairs, where Remei awaits. The closest Fast Travel point to her location is the Administration District Beacon.
When you approach Remei, she will recognize you as the Envoy who previously saved the ambassador, recalling how the ambassador was killed at the gate upon arrival in Paradis. Remei is eager to help her friends, Leoflaed and Glaedwine, who once aided her in difficult times.
Exhaust her dialogue options to uncover more about her relationship with the couple. She warns that as more Aedyrans arrive in Paradis, Leoflaed and Glaedwine risk being identified and need to escape to a place called Thirdborn.
To facilitate their escape, you will need to:
- Locate Ondra’s Kiss to heal Glaedwine’s eyesight.
- Acquire the Thirdborn Land Deeds from Meiko.
Alternatively, you can find Leoflaed and Glaedwine in Shantytown, where you can speak with them to initiate the Escape Plan quest.
Tip: It’s wise to complete the Escape Plan before confronting Taskmaster Thalla in the "An Untimely End" quest; otherwise, the Sparrowhawks may turn hostile, complicating your movements.
Securing the Land Deeds
To efficiently complete the Escape Plan, it’s advisable to collect the Land Deeds first since they’re located in the Pearl District. Finding Meiko can be challenging due to the area’s maze-like structure. Start at the Eastern Paradis Gate Beacon, run through two archways, then turn right into the Market District. Ascend the stairs and enter the first house on your right.
Tip: On the right path lined with benches, you can find a Paradisan Trout Pie and Fruitful Wine. There’s also a Lockbox in the corner (which requires a lockpick) containing items like Silver Fenning and an Agate.
After gathering necessary items, continue round the building, seek out an open door, and enter.
Inside, you’ll discover a lotus pond and, sadly, Meiko’s lifeless body. Loot her to acquire the Thirdborn Land Deeds. A note on the wall reveals that Meiko was threatened by the Sparrowhawks for failing to make a payment, leading to her demise.
Obtaining Ondra’s Kiss
To find Ondra’s Kiss, fast travel to the Gods’ Gate Beacon and make a right turn. Follow the path until you come across two trails ascending a hill; take the second trail. Eventually, you’ll arrive at a cliff where Ondra’s Kiss is visible alongside a giant skeleton. Drop down to retrieve it.
Locating Leoflaed and Glaedwine
To find Leoflaed and Glaedwine, fast travel to Claviger’s Landing Beacon. From there, continue down the path and turn right, crossing two archways until you reach the river. Cross the stone bridge and proceed along the trail until you reach an area filled with dilapidated wooden buildings and struggling refugees in Shantytown.
Continue straight until you hit a dead end, then turn right and ascend. At the next intersection, take another left, and you should see a ladder leading to the second floor.
Tip: Before heading towards the couple’s room, collect the Tarnished Suolenet located on your right.
Afterward, make your way back to retrieve Glaedwine and Leoflaed.
Interacting with the Refugee Couple
In Glaedwine and Leoflaed’s room, after brief introductions, offer them both Ondra’s Kiss and the Land Deeds. However, the quest doesn’t conclude here. They reveal that the smugglers who were supposed to assist them discovered they were Aedyran and increased the price, leaving them unable to pay for their escape.
Further into the conversation, Glaedwine lets slip that they are indeed wanted fugitives. They explain their past involvement in a land dispute that resulted in two deaths, which they claim was self-defense.
This sets up three potential choices for you:
- Help them sort out their smuggling issue.
- Report them to Captain Aelfyr.
- Ignore the situation and let them figure it out.
Handling the Smugglers
To aid Leoflaed and Glaedwine with the smugglers, you’ll need to confront Captain Soldis, who can be found north of the Sea Stacks. Depending on prior decisions regarding Ilora’s imprisonment, negotiations will follow a different path:
-
If Ilora Was Released: She will vouch for you, leading Soldis to agree to smuggle the couple out for free.
- If Ilora Was Not Released: Without her backing, you’ll need to settle an extra fee to facilitate their escape; refusal will lead to a confrontation with the smugglers.
Once the negotiation is settled, return to the couple. They will thank you with a variety of materials.
Reporting to Captain Aelfyr
If you decide to report them, fast travel to Administration District Beacon and head to Captain Aelfyr, who will be found in Paradis Hightown area. Once you have reported Leoflaed and Glaedwine, anticipate disapproval from your companions while Captain Aelfyr sends agents to capture them as a message to others.
Ultimately, while you gain experience points, there are no further rewards. Upon returning to Shantytown, Leoflaed and Glaedwine will no longer be there.
Your choices throughout this quest will impact the outcome significantly and contribute to the broader story of Avowed.
