Off The Grid is a shooter game that combines Extraction and Battle Royale elements. You can customize your loadouts and use cyberlimbs with special abilities. There are a few game modes available now, with more expected after the game leaves Early Access.
This is a multiplayer game, so it’s important to know how to play with friends, whether it supports crossplay, and other key details. Let’s go through everything you need to enjoy Off The Grid with your friends.
Multiplayer Modes, Explained
Off The Grid currently has three modes in Early Access: Battle Extraction, Deathmatch, and Tutorial & Practice.
A Battle Royale mode and a 60-hour campaign are planned for the future.
Battle Extraction is like a Battle Royale mode where you can play solo or with two teammates. You drop from a plane onto a large map, look for resources, and try to be the last one standing. One key feature is that you can find Hexes, special items you need to extract to add to your inventory.

Deathmatch is a classic everyone against everyone mode, where you can only play solo without any teammates.
At the time of writing, I had trouble finding matches in this mode, with long wait times that sometimes resulted in cancellations.
The Tutorial & Practice mode includes a brief tutorial covering the basics of the game and two practice arenas. One focuses on weapons and the other on cyberlimbs. You can learn how everything works here.
How To Add Friends And Play With Them

If you want to play Battle Extraction with one or two friends, it’s easy to do.
First, go to the Social menu at the top right of the screen, next to your earned Gun and Settings button. Here you can see your current squad.
On the right side, you’ll see any friends connected to the platform you’re using, and you can invite them right away. To invite someone not on your friend list, go to the Add Friends tab and enter their ID. Then add them to your OTG Friends.
This works regardless of your friends’ platforms.
If you want to play Battle Extraction with friends, you’re all set. Just keep in mind that you can’t play Deathmatch or enter the practice area while in a party.
Is There Cross-Platform Play?

Yes, Off The Grid supports cross-platform play, and it is enabled by default when you first start the game. Console players can easily play with PC users. You can also invite friends from different platforms.
If you want to disable crossplay, go to the Settings menu and turn off the option.
