With the latest additions to the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, selecting a winning deck that matches your gameplay style can be overwhelming. However, having the right card combinations can greatly enhance your chances of success. Since the game debuted on October 30, 2024, I’ve experimented with many different decks, each yielding varying results. Recently, the introduction of the Triumphant Light mini expansion has allowed me to create an incredibly effective Probopass ex deck.
This deck incorporates cards from various expansions, including Space-Time Smackdown, Mythical Island, and Triumphant Light. The result is a streamlined deck that’s not only easy to assemble but also tough to defeat. It has proven to be especially effective in both solo and competitive battles, making a real impact in events like the Triumphant Light SP Emblem Event. With Probopass ex leading the charge and supported by complementary cards, you can confidently take on formidable opponents like Celebi ex and hold your ground in heated matchups.
Probopass ex: A Smart Pick in Pokémon TCG Pocket
The Attack, Defensive Unit, Elevates Probopass ex
While Probopass ex might not be the first card you think of among the ex cards in the game, its impressive defensive capabilities and powerful attack make it a stronger contender than many players realize. To begin with, its 160 HP is noteworthy, exceeding most other ex cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket, which translates to increased durability for prolonged battles. As a stage one card, it can be quickly placed in the Active Spot, capable of withstanding the majority of incoming attacks, particularly when enhanced with the Giant Cape tool card.
Probopass ex shines most with its attack, making it a real tank in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The attack known as Defensive Unit reduces damage taken by 20 in the following turn while also dealing 90 damage. This allows for a more aggressive approach against tougher cards in the game. While the attack requires three Energy – two Metal and one Colorless – it’s slightly slower to charge, but this delay can be mitigated by the other cards within the deck, establishing Probopass ex as one of the top contenders in the game.
Top Cards for a Probopass ex Deck
Skarmory and Dialga ex Complement Probopass ex
The additional cards in this deck are crucial to its overall effectiveness. Dialga ex plays a key role in energy acceleration and providing substantial damage output. With 150 HP, this basic card can enter the Active Spot at any point in a match and withstand a series of attacks. Dialga ex possesses two attacks: Metallic Turbo and Heavy Impact, where Metallic Turbo, although it only deals 30 damage, allows you to fetch two Metal Energy and attach them to one of your benched Pokémon. Heavy Impact deals an impressive 100 damage for four Energy.
A notable challenge with this deck is retreating Probopass ex when needed. That’s where the Leaf support card becomes essential, reducing retreat costs by two and increasing your strategic options.

Skarmory is another important Pokémon to include in this deck. This basic card puts pressure on your opponent right from the start and can effectively stall for others to come into play. Its attack, Metal Arms, inflicts 20 damage for just one Metal Energy. When combined with a tool like the Giant Cape or Rocky Helmet, it can deal an extra 30 damage. Striking for 50 damage from the first turn can be pivotal in quickly overcoming your opponent and securing consecutive wins.
Optimal Strategy for a Probopass ex Deck
Tool and Supporter Cards Simplify Your Path to Victory
There are two effective strategies for starting a battle with this deck. First, it’s wise to put Skarmory in the Active Spot on turn one, attach a tool card, and apply pressure with Metal Arms. This approach gives you the precious time needed to place Nosepass on the bench and work towards evolving into Probopass ex. You can also place Dialga ex onto the bench as soon as possible; utilizing the Adaman supporter card at the outset can help reduce damage from the opponent’s first strike by 20.
Alternatively, you can choose to start with Dialga ex in the Active Spot right out of the gate, allowing you to focus on powering it up with energy while utilizing Metallic Turbo to charge your benched Pokémon. Employ tool cards and the Adaman supporter to enhance Dialga ex’s endurance. This strategy will lead to launching a fully energized Probopass ex into the Active Spot, allowing you to execute your plan with Defensive Unit for victory in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
