Winning 1,000 battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A might seem overwhelming at first. Once you accept that it’s a necessary step to get your Shiny Charm, your main focus shifts to finding the most efficient way to reach that goal.
If you’ve completed the story without extra battles, you probably have fewer than 200 wins. So, the task of reaching 1,000 can feel daunting. But with some preparation and the right strategy, you can speed up the process significantly.
Which Pokémon Should You Use to Win 1,000 Battles?
The best choice is Dragonite. It combines strong base stats with access to the key move: Extreme Speed. This move’s speed makes it perfect for quickly defeating opponents in a battle marathon.
How to Prepare Your Dragonite
- Catch an Adamant or Jolly nature Dragonite, or give it a corresponding Mint to boost Attack or Speed.
- Train your Dragonite up to levels 90–100, ideally using EXP candies to speed up the process.
- Hyper train its Attack and Speed IVs at the Justice Dojo by bringing Bottle Caps.
- EV train with 252 Attack EVs by feeding your Dragonite Protein bottles, costing about 125,000 Pokedollars.
- Teach it Extreme Speed and assign that move to the ‘A’ button for fast skipping of dialogue.
- Hold a Normal Gem to boost the power of Extreme Speed.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your Dragonite will be ready to rack up those wins quickly.
Where and How to Farm Your 1,000 Battles
The best place to farm wins is Restaurant Le Nah, located southeast of Wild Zone 11. This spot offers several advantages:
- All enemies are level 30, making them easy to beat.
- Each battle entry consists of three fights, providing quick turnaround.
- You can also farm Pokedollars while battling slowly.
In a typical session, you might start with about 70,000 Pokedollars and finish with around 300,000. The battles are straightforward, and you can automate the process with a Turbo controller, letting you earn wins overnight or while watching a show. Preparing for a marathon session is recommended if you want to reach 1,000 wins as efficiently as possible.
Battling Strategy
At the start of each battle, immediately use Extreme Speed—its rapid attack animation helps you quickly defeat Pokémon. Proper training ensures that every use of Extreme Speed can one-shot opponents, making the process faster.
With two Pokémon per fight and three fights per entry, you’ll use Extreme Speed six times, then need to mash ‘A’ to skip dialogue and start the next round. Balancing these battles with dialogue skipping maximizes your wins in the shortest time possible.
