Playing through the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC can be a bit of a journey. First, you’ll need to investigate the strange problems happening in Lumiose City. After each step of your investigation, you’ll progress further in the story. Over time, you’ll unlock the chance to catch more rare Mega Evolutions, including Mega Darkrai.

How to Find Darkranite for Darkrai

You can find Darkranite at the very end of the story. After you complete the main mission called Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 6, you’ll be asked to make a special item called the Bad Dreams Cruller Donut. Finishing this unlocks the final battle against Darkrai. Be ready because Darkrai will attack you first in its normal form, then power up into its Mega form.

Here’s what you need to know about Mega Darkrai’s weaknesses and resistances:

Weak to: Fighting, Bug, and Fairy types (twice as effective)
Resistant to: Ghost and Dark types (half damage)
Immune to: certain attacks

Interestingly, Mewtwo is very useful here. You can get one for free, and it comes with a strong Fighting move called Aura Sphere, which Darkrai is weak to. Although Mewtwo is mainly Psychic-type, you can adjust its moves before battle, and it has two Mega Evolution options. After defeating Mega Darkrai and winning the fight, you’ll earn the Darkranite.

Once you’ve finished the battle, you’ll have a chance to catch Darkrai, free of charge. Darkrai will be dazed, so you can use any kind of Poké Ball. After the credits roll, you’ll wake up in Hotel Z with your new Darkrai and Darkranite. These will let you trigger Mega Darkrai whenever you want.

Even after finishing the main story, there’s still more to explore. You can go through portals to find Pokémon you missed and complete additional side quests and postgame challenges to gather more Mega Evolutions.
