Lugia and Ho-Oh are some of the most famous legendary Pokémon in the series, representing the Legendary birds of the Johto region and featured on the box art for Pokémon Gold and Silver. Pokémon Pokopia had to make some difficult decisions about which Legendaries to include, but it’s no surprise that Lugia and Ho-Oh are among the select few chosen.
Both Pokémon are quite common in the game; they often leave behind Rainbow Feathers or Silver Feathers for players to find. These feathers are important because you’ll need them later. While you can trade them, it’s a good idea to keep five of each for future use, as befriending Lugia and Ho-Oh can take some time.
### How To Catch Lugia And Ho-Oh
You might notice Lugia and Ho-Oh early in the game; whenever they drop Rainbow Feathers or Silver Feathers, they appear in the sky above you. You can tell they’re nearby when you hear their roars.
To fly up and meet them, you need to learn Magnet Rise from Magnemite. However, this move is only available after completing the Team Initiation Challenge, which requires reaching the final region, Sparkling Skylands.
Meeting them is just the first step. To befriend Ho-Oh, you need to carry five Rainbow Feathers and the Clear Bell. Similarly, to befriend Lugia, you need five Silver Feathers and the Tidal Bell. These Bells are rare items and require specific steps to obtain.
### How To Get Lugia And Ho-Oh To Speak To You
To calm Lugia and Ho-Oh and initiate communication, you’ll need the Tidal Bell for Lugia and the Clear Bell for Ho-Oh. Acquiring these items can take some time.
Getting the Tidal Bell involves befriending all three of the Kanto Legendary Birds, which requires completing specific tasks explained in the full guide. The Clear Bell can be obtained by befriending all three Johto Legendary Dogs.
Once you have the Bells and Feathers, all that’s left is to wait for the Pokémon to appear. When they do, you will be able to talk to them, add them to your Pokédex, and bring them into your village.
