How to Start Dating an NPC
To begin dating a character in the game, make sure they are single. You can check this in the relationship section of your journal. Once confirmed, your next step is to build your relationship hearts with them.
You need to earn a total of eight hearts and see all of their heart events. After that, you will receive a letter in the mail telling you where to meet them, which will trigger the eight-heart event.
Go to the specified location to watch the cutscene. During this event, you will have the chance to confess your feelings. Choose the pink dialogue option with a heart to start a romantic relationship and establish your dating status!
Can You Date More Than One NPC?
Yes! You can date as many single characters as you want without any problems. There are no restrictions based on gender, so feel free to date anyone you like.
However, keep in mind that although you can date multiple people at once, you can only marry one partner when the time comes. Choose carefully! For a complete list of potential romantic partners, check out our guide.
Currently, marriage isn’t available in the game, but it is planned to be added in future updates.
How to Go On Dates With Your Partner
Once you’ve started dating your first NPC, Elsie will visit your house the next day to explain about dating. You can go on special dates with your partner once a week.
Dates are only available on Saturdays and Sundays because most characters are busy during the week. Also, even if you have multiple partners, you can only go on one date per partner each week.
For example, you might take Celine out for a picnic on Saturday and visit March for gem-cutting on Sunday. Each first-time date type will reward you with a special photo card to display at home—try to collect all of them! In later updates, dating will also grant more hearts than merely giving gifts.
How to Unlock More Dates
Elsie will give you two types of dates when you first start to talk about dating. However, many more can be unlocked through your regular activities and collecting specific items called Date Inspiration items.
