Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles offers a variety of jobs, which are essentially character classes. Each job provides unique abilities and equipment options, playing different roles in combat.
Thieves can steal items from other characters, making them very useful in the right situations. During easy battles, you can spend multiple turns stealing from enemies without concern. In tougher fights, you can snatch valuable gear directly from opponents.
How to Unlock the Thief Job
To turn a character into a Thief, you first need to level them up as a Level 3 Archer. Once they reach that level, you can switch their job to Thief, which unlocks their stealing abilities.
Note: You don’t have to stay a Thief to steal items. As long as you learn the necessary Thief skills and equip them with the right job, stealing remains possible.
How to Steal
Stealing is fairly simple but involves various abilities depending on what you want to take. The Thief has access to several steal abilities, each with its own cost:
Ability | Cost |
---|---|
Steal Gil | 10 |
Steal Heart | 200 |
Steal Helm | 350 |
Steal Armor | 450 |
Steal Shield | 350 |
Steal Weapon | 600 |
Steal Accessory | 500 |
Steal EXP | 250 |
These abilities give your character a chance to successfully steal the targeted item, which is shown as a percentage when aiming at an enemy.
Steal Heart not only has a chance to take an item but also has the potential to charm the enemy, causing them to fight for you temporarily.
The items you choose to steal depend on the situation. Some enemies carry powerful or rare items, making stealing them very advantageous. However, stealing Gil or XP always provides value as well.
