As you help the village of Bywater grow in Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game, you’ll encounter many colorful characters with their own personalities and preferences. While getting to know them all takes time, participating in clubs allows you to be more involved with the community beyond daily conversations.
Clubs are groups that Bywater’s hobbits can join to improve their skills. There are several types, and you can join as many as you like. Growing and upgrading these clubs helps Bywater achieve official village status and earn a good reputation.
How to Unlock Clubs
To unlock clubs, you need to progress further in the main story quests. Once you obtain Old Ruby’s book of rules and discover that Bywater isn’t officially a village yet, you’ll undertake quests to recruit members and leaders for the new clubs and get them started.
There are four clubs you can join:
Club Name | Leader | Description |
---|---|---|
Cooking Club | Lily Cotton | Focuses on making large dishes and feasts to serve guests. |
Fishing Club | Old Noakes | Helps improve angling skills and become a better fisher-hobbit. |
Foraging Club | Delphi | Emphasizes gathering wild resources like mushrooms, nuts, and fruits. |
Gardening Club | Rosie Cotton | Focuses on growing your own crops and using companion planting. |
Clubs can reach their maximum level at level five, unlocking additional rewards along the way.
Where to Find the Club Boards
After talking with Marigold, she will ask for your help in finding missing club boards. Rumors suggest the boards are either on the Inn’s roof or floating downstream, but neither location is correct.
Instead, on the path leading to your house, across from the Inn’s mailbox, you’ll see a large wall of ivy. Clear away the ivy to reveal all four club boards.
How to Take Club Tasks
To accept tasks from different clubs, visit the Ivy Bush Inn each day and check the club boards. Each club posts multiple requests, which you can complete at your own pace.
Requests refresh every morning, so check back frequently. Keep in mind, you can only have ten active tasks at a time. Complete these tasks quickly to earn experience and unlock more rewards later.
How to Unlock Club Rewards
As you complete tasks and gain experience, the club leader will reward you with special bonuses. These can include upgrades or new kitchen equipment, depending on the club you level up.
You can track your progress in the journal, which shows how much experience you’ve earned from each club’s requests. If you’re ever unsure where to find the club leader or who they are, check your map or the club section of your journal.
