Crimson Desert is an expansive open-world game where you take on the role of Kliff, a mercenary working to rebuild his clan after a devastating loss. During your adventure, you’ll face tough bosses, discover hidden secrets, and solve various puzzles.
One of these puzzles is called the Origin of Thoughts. It’s located on a floating island in the Abyss, accessible once you unlock the Wind element. Here’s how to solve this puzzle and earn a helpful Abyss Artifact to upgrade your equipment.
Solution for the Origin of Thoughts Puzzle
When you arrive at the Origin of Thoughts, activate the Abyss Gate. Then, look to your left at a large fan blowing air into the sky. Use this fan to ride up to the first ring. From there, look southeast and fly toward the next set of fans. Use these fans to glide up to another floating ring, which has its fans turned off this time.
Land on the ring and find two floating platforms nearby. The right platform has a small alcove with a rectangular Abyss Core inside (as shown in the image). Use your Axiom Force’s Aerial Maneuver ability to reach the Abyss Core and pick up the floating battery there. Move this battery between the two platforms and then climb onto the top of your current platform.
Cross the gap to the platform with the deactivated fan. Insert the Abyss Core you just moved into the receptacle next to the fan. You’ll see green leaves swirling around, indicating the core is in the correct spot. Release it from Axiom Force and perform a Force Palm strike to lock it in place.
Next, ride the fans until you reach a large ring with a platform attached to the northeast. Land on this platform and locate a small hole on the right, where thick cables run. There’s a tiny yellow control switch you can attach your Axiom Force to.
Proceed to the next part, where the ring is divided into three sections: inner, middle, and outer. To solve the top-down menu puzzle, align the circular nodes in each section with the static circular nodes in the top-left corner of the menu. You can find each ring’s node by looking at the edge, as there will only be one per ring.
Once all three nodes are aligned with the static ones, the rings will glow blue. The game will then snap you out of the top-down view. Jump down and fall to the very bottom of the Origin of Thoughts. At the base, you’ll find a small circular switch surrounded by lights. Crouch and perform a Force Palm strike (R3) on this switch to finish the puzzle.
Completing the puzzle will spawn an Abyss Artifact on the podium. Additionally, passing through the triangle gate behind the podium creates a switch that can be activated with Axiom Force. This powers up a transporter that takes you to the next platforming challenge and a new puzzle island.
