Diamora, known as the Song of Death, is a tough boss you face early in Act 4 of Path of Exile 2. To finish the Hostile Takeover quest, which Ange from Kingsmarch has sent you on, you need to defeat her. She is a tricky opponent with many challenging mechanics: you’ll get stunned, instantly killed, overwhelmed by minions, and more. If you’re just looking to complete the quest quickly, you can skip ahead in this guide to see how to do it.
This guide explains the best strategy to defeat her, especially by boosting your Cold Resistance, which makes the fight much easier.
Diamora is found in the Singing Caverns, part of the Whakapanu Islands. You’ll need to explore the map, which is randomly generated, until you find her arena. She will be inside one of the boss rooms. All Path of Exile 2 maps are different each time, so keep exploring the entire area.
Diamora’s fight requires increased Cold Resistance. When we reached level 50, she kept knocking us down, mainly because our Cold Resistance was at -11%. Your resistances tend to drop as you progress through acts, so you’ll need to increase your Cold Resistance to at least 30-40% to make the fight more manageable. You can do this by buying rings with Cold Resistance, like a Sapphire Ring, and adding Runestones and Gems to your armor to boost it. We managed to get our Cold Resistance up to around 60%, making the fight much easier.
Even with higher resistance, Diamora has several mechanics to watch out for:
Drowning, Tornadoes, Bubbles:
At the start of the fight, she gives you a window of a couple of minutes to do as much damage as possible. She spawns three Tornadoes—stay out of these—and slams at you with her arms. Then she slides off the edge of the arena and jumps over the area, creating Tornadoes behind her, which are easy to avoid. She will return to the platform and repeat this initial phase.
Mesmerizing Gaze:
When her health drops to about 75%, Diamora enters a new phase, moving to the center of the arena. She performs a large area-of-effect gaze attack, similar to Medusa, which you must avoid by turning your character away so you’re not looking at her. During this phase, focus on clearing her minions, as they are dangerous and can stack up. She’ll return to her initial phase afterward, but be mindful of statues along the edges of the arena—these can use their own Petrifying Gaze to freeze you in place.
Bubbles – So Many Bubbles:
In the final phase, Diamora spawns several bubbles that float around the arena. Do not stand in or touch these bubbles. If you touch them, you’ll get a Drowning debuff. If you get three Drowning stacks, you will die instantly. If you manage to defeat her, you can then return to Kingsmarch and complete the Hostile Takeover quest with Ange.
Completing the Quest:
After defeating Diamora, head back to Ange and go to the Shoreline Hideout. Here, you’ll need to clean out some wildlife, which is your first hideout in Path of Exile 2. Use the waypoint to travel to your hideout, and follow the prompts to reset the map and finish the quest. After that, you can swap hideouts if you wish, and your mission is complete.
