“Where Winds Meet” is filled with side quests, mini-games, boss fights, and ways to improve your character. Most activities in the game are worthwhile because they reward you with valuable materials or new skills.

The side quest “Echoes of Old Battles” grants you the Touch of Death Mystic Art, which allows you to instantly defeat low-level enemies who are not aware of your presence. Here’s how to solve all the puzzles in this quest, including the wall puzzle near the end.

### How to Start Echoes of Old Battles
You can begin this quest by heading to the Northern Vow Ruins in Battlecrest Slope, which is in the Qinghe region. Approach the ruins and talk to the eavesdropper to start the mission.

### Echoes of Old Battles Walkthrough
Start by clearing out a few enemies in the surrounding area, including the mini-boss Zhang Bao. After defeating him, open the chest behind him to find your first clue—a map of the area marked with four red circles. These circles represent braziers around the site. Light the braziers marked on the map and extinguish the others. Doing so will open a staircase leading underground, allowing you to proceed in the quest.

### Wall Puzzle
Once you reach the next room, you’ll receive the Yanyun Oath emote. Perform this for the nearby statue, then enter the room with glowing blocks on each wall. The hint here is to recreate the words of the Yanyun Oath using the Chinese characters on both sides. Sometimes, a bug prevents you from seeing the characters on the clue initially.

Nearby signposts can help guide you, even if you can’t read Chinese. To solve the puzzle, move the correct blocks in or out as follows:
– On the left wall, push in the furthest block from you on the end.
– On the right wall, push in the third and fifth blocks from the end.

When everything lines up correctly, the door will open.

### Unclog the Waterwheel
After dropping down into a new area, head behind the waterfall and interact with the statue to tighten the chain. This action will open the door, letting you move on.

### Loot the Treasure
The final step is to open the treasure chest in the last chamber. This chest contains the manual for the Touch of Death Mystic Art. Be sure to loot all the chests in the room, especially the large one at the back, to gather valuable items and resources. Once you’ve obtained the manual and inspected the text on the back wall, the quest will be complete.
