There’s a lot to explore and experience in Where Winds Meet. Many side quests are small and go into deep philosophical debates about the meaning of martial arts, or involve quirky tasks like chasing away geese or retrieving your horse after a thief steals it. There’s always something happening. Sometimes, you’ll find a quest that stands out because it’s so unique.
One such quest is Blind To The World. In this quest, you drain an entire lake while following a rumor about the Lunar Goddess buried beneath it. It introduces special mechanics of its own, and there’s no combat involved at all. It’s a refreshing change from the usual, filled with puzzles that will challenge your thinking.
How To Start The Blind To The World Quest
The quest begins in the Qinghe region, near Moonveil Mountain. It revolves around a lake and a statue underneath it. Though you’ll notice the statue, you can’t interact with it until you start the related quest. To do that, you need to meet Unfated Tian, who stands on a nearby cliff overlooking the lake.
When you talk to him, he mentions that he received a letter instructing him to come here searching for the Lunar Goddess and treasure hidden underneath. However, your first task is to drain the lake to interact with the statue of the blind woman down there.
Entering The Cave
Once the lake water is drained, you’ll see Tian dive into the dried-up lake to approach the statue. Be sure to use a Mighty Drop to prevent fall damage when jumping after him. After he reaches the statue, you’ll need to solve a puzzle to progress.
Draining The Water
Jump into the lake and look around for the main drain in the center, connected to three chains. Follow each chain to find the mechanism and interact with it to unlock it. Once all three are opened, the drain will activate and suck out all the water, allowing easier access to the area.
Tip: You have limited air while underwater, so surface regularly to breathe.
After the water is gone, Tian will jump into the now-exposed area. You should follow him, again making sure to use a Mighty Drop to avoid fall damage.
Solving The Statue Puzzle
With the statue revealed, a new puzzle appears. It’s surrounded by four pressure plates and one large plate. Stepping on the large plate activates the other four. Your goal is to step on those plates in the correct order to open the cave’s entrance.
The order is clearly given in a note from Tian: North, East, South, and West. The pressure plates can be stepped on multiple times, but you need to be precise not to activate a plate twice by mistake. The map’s orientation is fixed, so start from the north plate and follow the order clockwise. If done correctly, a cutscene shows the cave opening. If you get it wrong, Tian is knocked back, and you’ll need to restart the puzzle.
Inside The Cave
The cave is straightforward once inside. Be cautious: avoid walking into the fabric pieces hanging around, which can explode if cut. There’s a fallen, impassable bridge; you can’t jump over it, so find the small side entrance nearby to continue. The route involves swimming through dark underwater caves where breath is limited. Use Wind Sense to navigate the dark passages quickly, as there are few places to catch your breath.
Back on solid ground, you’ll face a locked door with another puzzle.
Solving The Bell Puzzle
Before you is a door with hanging bells and scattered arrows. You’re told by Tian that the bells must be struck in a specific order. This order is based on the note you found earlier, which states: North, East, South, West, following a clockwise pattern.
First, step onto a large pedestal to ring the bells in the initial order. Then, use the nearby blue flowers—these make you temporarily blind but enhance your hearing—to step into them before activating the pedestal again. The bells will now ring in a different order. Hit the bells in this new, “blind” order to unlock the door.
Note: You can step on the same bell multiple times, but be careful to follow the correct sequence. If you make a mistake, Tian is pushed away, and you’ll have to restart the puzzle by stepping on the large plate again.
Reaching The Lunar Goddess
Once the door unlocks, you proceed into the area where you see the Lunar Goddess, who has died and is behind a locked door. A table nearby holds a box of frozen eyes meant to grant her sight. Giving her these eyes is one option, but Tian mentions she doesn’t want them—her true wish was to see beauty again.
You should search her area for other items to fulfill her final wish. In her living quarters, look for a knife on a table and a blue flower in a small garden nearby. You can choose to give her either item; however, she will only accept the flower, not the knife. She was happy to remain blind because the flowers let her see the beauty still present in the world. After offering the flower, you can leave through a crack further down and earn the Blinding Mist Mystic Art as a reward.
