Path of Exile 2 is a combat role-playing game that builds on the first game, offering many new systems to learn. From understanding your character’s functions, leveling up, or customizing your gear and environment—there is always something new to explore.
One important system is resetting instances, which becomes very helpful because it allows you to farm bosses repeatedly. You can replay boss fights from dungeons or normal areas multiple times. This guide covers everything you need to know about resetting instances in Path of Exile 2.
What Does It Mean to Reset an Instance?
Resetting an instance means restarting a specific location or dungeon. After clearing an area or dungeon, you can reset it to have all the enemies and loot respawn, making it useful for farming. You will still gain experience points, so it’s ideal for grinding areas you’ve already cleared.
This feature is especially handy if you want to fight the same boss again, whether for fun or to farm it repeatedly for better loot.
How to Reset an Instance
To reset an instance, first clear the entire area or dungeon. For example, take the Mausoleum of the Praetor in the Cemetery of the Eternals. Enter the mausoleum, defeat all enemies, and then face the boss, Draven, the Eternal Praetor.
After defeating the boss, use the portal that appears to return to the Cemetery of the Eternals or go back to camp directly. At camp, visit the waypoint, open the map, and click on the Mausoleum of the Praetor icon.
A second map will appear—hover over the Mausoleum of the Praetor icon, then hold Ctrl and left-click on it. This opens the Instance Manager. Click the “New” button to reset the dungeon, which will also automatically teleport you to it.
Once inside, clear all enemies and defeat the boss again. After that, use the portal to exit back to the camp or the cemetery area. To reset the dungeon again, open the map at the camp, hover over the same icon, hold Ctrl, and left-click to load it. In the Instance Manager, simply select “New” to reset and be transported back inside.
You can repeat this process as many times as you want—each time you need to clear the entire area or dungeon.
