As you advance in Dwarves: Glory, Death And Loot, you’ll need to upgrade every detail of your clan and your dwarves. This means retiring your early-game dwarves and bringing in new, stronger ones with better base stats to keep winning battles.
Here are some helpful tips for recruiting top-tier dwarves, including veterans, to keep your clan at its strongest in this game.
How Does The Recruitment System Work?
Recruitment is available from the start of each run. It allows you to add more dwarves to your clan by paying the recruitment cost, which you can see before choosing a potential recruit.
On the recruitment screen, you can:
- Select a dwarf to recruit
- Lock a dwarf to keep them for rerolls
- Reroll the available options to find better dwarves
Rerolling and recruiting each have associated costs, but locking a dwarf is free. Locking keeps that dwarf safe while you reroll other options, giving you more control over who joins your clan.
How To Recruit Veteran Dwarves
Veteran dwarves only begin appearing after you reach 50 victories in your current run. They stand out because they have:
- Unique names
- Colorful, legendary backgrounds
- Better stats than regular recruits
These veterans usually cost a lot of gold—thousands—but their improved abilities make them worth the investment.
Once you hit 50 victories, you’ll have a small chance (under 10%) to find a veteran dwarf during recruitment. Usually, it takes multiple rerolls to encounter one. After surpassing 50 victories, there’s also an option to reroll with ten times the chance of finding a veteran in a single try.
Every victory you earn increases your chance of recruiting a veteran. After 50 rerolls (including the special bulk reroll), you’ll be guaranteed to find one.
Tip: Save at least 3,000 gold before rerolling so you can afford to recruit the veteran when you find one.
Veterans become crucial after 50 victories because their superior stats help you survive tougher battles, especially as you push beyond 100 victories.
The Best Approach for Adding Veterans to Your Clan:
- Find out what strengths the veteran has.
- Identify the weakest current member in the same role.
- Retire the weaker dwarf to recover 90% of their experience.
- Add the veteran to your lineup and equip them with the appropriate gear.
- Check the bonus stats provided by their profession before leveling them up.
- Use beer in the tavern to upgrade the veteran from level 1 to your clan’s current level.
Following these steps helps you make the most of your veterans, cycling in the best dwarves and removing the weaker ones to strengthen your clan overall.
