Piaoyao Battleboard is a small game you can play in the Hexi region of Where Winds Meet. It’s like a chess game where you use game pieces to try to knock your opponent’s pieces off the board.
Playing Piaoyao is a fun way to pass the time, make friends with NPCs, or earn rewards with other players. Here’s how to play and how to get all the game pieces.
How to Play Piaoyao Battleboard
In Piaoyao, players take turns trying to knock their opponent’s pieces off the edge of the arena. Before the game starts, you can place up to five pieces in a formation of your choice. Each piece has its own special features. The five types of pieces are:
- Archer — Attacks by aiming precisely, with a trajectory line showing where to shoot.
- Shield Soldier — Focuses on defense; moves slowly but stays steady.
- Flag Bearer — Supports allies by creating a speed zone that helps nearby teammates move faster.
- Artillery — Attacks by launching itself at opponents and then firing a cannonball.
- Cavalry — Fast-moving attacker that hits hard on impact.
Once both players arrange their pieces, a coin flip decides who goes first. In the first round, no pieces can be knocked out; the goal is setup only. After that, players take turns aiming and launching one piece each turn. When a piece hits another, the stationary piece gets pushed backward. Your goal is to push all of your opponent’s pieces outside the arena.
The last player with at least one piece left inside wins.
How to Get Pieces
There are three NPCs in Jade Gate Pass you can challenge to play Piaoyao, but two won’t challenge you until you have more pieces. Initially, you can start with Du Buyi in Karez. Beating him will give you a new piece. After that, you can challenge Pang Miao in Peaceward Camp, then Hu Xiaoxu at Camel Station. Each victory awards you additional pieces to use in the game.
Mini-Game Rewards
When you beat each NPC for the first time, you’ll earn rewards like Echo Jade, coins, and experience points. Playing Piaoyao with other players in multiplayer mode grants you Adventurer Slips, coins, and additional experience.
