Mizuki stands out as one of the more unique characters in Overwatch. His role as a survivor fits well with how he’s best played: stay close to your team, focus on healing, and help keep the enemy pressure up. Healing should always come first—dealing damage is important too, but keeping your allies alive is the top priority.
His ultimate is among the best support ultimates for survivability. Since his healing is passive, you can focus more on dealing damage or providing targeted heals as needed. He truly embodies the support role.
All Abilities and How to Use Them
Mizuki’s main source of healing is his Remedy Aura, which constantly surrounds him. This aura heals everyone within a 10-meter radius. The amount healed depends on Mizuki’s own healing and damage output, so to maximize healing, you need to consistently balance attacking enemies and healing allies.
Spirit Glaive
Mizuki’s primary attack is throwing spinning blades called Spirit Glaives. They hit enemies and then deal a small amount of damage over time—30 damage initially, plus a 30 damage overtime effect. These blades bounce off walls, making it possible to strike enemies from odd angles by bouncing the glaive off behind them. This attack is good for chipping away at enemy health and hitting opponents around corners.
Healing Kasa
This ability involves Mizuki removing his hat and throwing it like a bouncing projectile to heal allies. It bounces between teammates, healing them before returning to Mizuki himself to top off his health, too. The healing decreases with each bounce—first ally gets 90, the second 70, the third 50, and Mizuki gets 30 on the return. With two charges, the Healing Kasa can ignore barriers when bouncing, making it useful for healing teammates who are out of range or behind cover. Always try to position yourself so allies outside your immediate radius can benefit from the bounces.
Binding Chain
Mizuki launches a chain that holds an enemy in place, preventing movement abilities. Use this on out-of-position damage dealers or support heroes to lock them down, making it easier for your team to eliminate them before they can escape. It’s especially effective against flankers trying to slip away or enemies caught out by your team.
Katashiro Return
Mizuki drops a paper doll and becomes invulnerable briefly, gaining a speed boost while running forward. He can reactivate this to return to the doll’s position. This is a key tool for both escaping danger and positioning—use it to evade enemy ultimates or to retreat to a safe spot after initiating a fight. The speed boost also helps you stay alive longer and reposition effectively.
Kekkai Sanctuary
This ultimate creates a large healing sanctuary that heals all allies inside for 50 health per second over six seconds. It also absorbs projectiles hitting it from outside, with exceptions like melee, beam, or shockwave attacks. This can block enemy ultimates, prevent teammates from dying, or give your team a chance to recover during heavy fire. Combining this with your Healing Kasa can turn the tide of team fights.
Tips for Playing Mizuki
Positioning is crucial. Always stay close enough to your team to heal effectively, but avoid frontlines or getting too close to danger. If you’re only healing a single teammate within your aura, you might not be in a good position. Use your abilities thoughtfully—save your Healing Kasa for moments when teammates are out of range or low on health, especially in emergency situations.
Don’t chase out in front just to heal one person; use your Spirit Glaive to hit enemies around corners, maintaining safe positioning while contributing damage. Always keep a Katashiro doll ready to escape danger, especially when enemy ultimates are incoming or when overwhelmed.
Your ultimate should be used flexibly—either to protect your team from incoming damage by placing it in front during pushes, or to absorb enemy ultimates and keep your team alive. Remember, staying alive enables you to continue healing and supporting the fight, making you a valuable asset.
