Overwatch has had its share of quirky supports, and Jetpack Cat might be the most airborne of them all. This fast-moving healer never touches the ground. Instead, she turns every fight into a three-dimensional experience. With constant flight and tools that can disrupt enemies or swing battles in seconds, Jetpack Cat works best when you position yourself wisely.
As a teammate, you keep allies alive and change how fights develop from above. Playing this adorable hero well requires understanding vertical control and teamwork at a higher level. If you’re ready to fly and redefine support play, this guide covers everything you need to know.
All Abilities and What They Do
Biotic Pawjectiles:
Jetpack Cat’s primary attack launches a spread of projectiles that heal allies and damage enemies. The spread rewards steady tracking rather than pinpoint aiming, making it effective in chaotic fights where both healing and damage are important. From the air, you can angle your shots downward into groups of teammates while still pressuring enemies on the front line.
Lifeline:
This ability switches you into transport mode, letting you tow an ally after they accept a prompt. When connected, your movement speeds up and you can heal the ally while carrying them. It’s great for quick repositioning or emergency saves, but coordination is key since the teammate needs to agree before you can tow them.
Frenetic Flight:
Your main burst movement tool, Frenetic Flight accelerates your current movement direction, making you extremely fast. Use it to swiftly reach allies or escape danger. Keep in mind, carrying a teammate drains your fuel faster, so managing resources during these transports is important.
Purr:
This ability emits a pulsing area of healing that speeds up over time and knocks back nearby enemies when activated. It acts as both a way to sustain yourself and a defensive tool to push back enemies that rush you.
Catnapper (Ultimate):
Your ultimate sends you diving toward a chosen ground point, knocking enemies down in your path and creating a tether to the nearest enemy. The tether briefly allows you to carry that enemy, opening options for environmental kills or isolating a target quickly. Use it decisively, as the window to follow up is short.
Claws Out:
Unlocked at level one, Claws Out is a quick melee attack every six seconds. It wounds enemies, dealing damage over time and slowing them. It’s useful for diving into enemies, causing damage, and then retreating quickly.
Tips for Playing Jetpack Cat
Master Vertical Control:
Since you never touch the ground, positioning is about managing airspace. Stay high enough to avoid hitscan threats but low enough to land your Biotic Pawjectiles reliably. Think of yourself as a moving vantage point rather than a stationary healer.
Timing Lifeline:
Use your tow ability thoughtfully. It’s your top tool for saving low-health teammates, repositioning damage dealers to advantageous spots, or boosting tanks into better angles. Always communicate with your team beforehand so they’re ready to accept the tow prompt.
Use Frenetic Flight Wisely:
Don’t fly straight for too long. Instead, dive around corners or obstacle points to avoid enemy fire. Short bursts will make you harder to track and conserve fuel. When carrying someone, plan your route during your acceleration because fuel recovery slows down when you are towing. Always know your escape path.
Engage with Purr:
Activate Purr preventively during sustained fights. Its knockback can disturb flankers, while its healing keeps your team stable. Avoid using it as a panic button; it’s best used proactively.
Environmental Kills and Isolated Targets:
Dive with purpose—look for opportunities to pull enemies off ledges or into environmental hazards. If no immediate kill is available, pulling an enemy out of position can turn the tide of a fight.
Balance Aggression and Awareness:
While your mobility makes you hard to pin down, you’re not invincible. Keep moving unpredictably, watch out for enemy hitscan threats, and use your utility to keep control of engagements. Success depends on balancing your tools and positioning effectively.
