Fans of Final Fantasy 14 can now rejoice, as Gaia has been unlocked from the game and made available to the public. In Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, some of the most well-known characters from various Final Fantasy worlds come together in one universe to help save it. Gaia is one of those characters.
Originally an antagonist, Gaia now joins the roster of heroes from across the Final Fantasy franchise to fight for humanity. When equipped with the right tools, Gaia becomes a formidable force. She excels at creating strategic situations for her team and can halt enemies effectively.
Gaia Overview
Gaia is a melee fighter designed to operate close to her enemies and even the big boss monsters. Her abilities allow her to deal damage, boost her speed, and strengthen her defenses. With increased defense and speed, her high attack power makes her excel at surprising enemy teams, especially when her defenses are up. She’s ideal for front-line players who want to stay engaged in battle while remaining resilient and dishing out significant damage. Gaia can debuff enemies and buff herself, making her a strong choice for quickly eliminating monsters and disrupting enemy teams.
Best Abilities for Gaia
Gaia’s main abilities include:
- Diamond Destroyer: Gaia leaps forward to attack, greatly reducing the action speed of enemies and boosting her own attack power.
- Fated Moment: She targets an area, setting an attack that detonates after 8 seconds, causing severe damage and launching enemies into the air while reducing their action speed.
- Hopeful Dance: Gaia rushes at an enemy with her weapon, functioning well as a quick gap closer.
- Spell-in-Waiting: She targets foes in a cone in front of her, slowing down their action speed significantly for five seconds.
- Heal: Any healing ability works here to keep Gaia fighting during intense battles.
- Low Cooldown Ability: Preferably water-elemental skills to boost her effectiveness.
Use her UR abilities to isolate a target by slowing them down, rushing in to attack, then following up with Diamond Destroyer or Fated Moment. This approach prevents enemies from escaping, decreases their speed, and buffs Gaia if she activates Diamond Disaster. Her debuffs and high attack then set up her team to eliminate enemy members quickly and deal heavy damage to the boss with her Bravery.
Best Party Compositions for Gaia
While you can’t choose your teammates, some characters work better with Gaia than others. She can cover ground herself, improve her speed and defenses, and set the enemy up to be slow enough for her allies to follow up. Effective partners include:
- Cloud Strife: With high attack power and stun capabilities, Cloud works well with Gaia by helping incapacitate enemies quickly.
- Lightning: Her speed allows her to finish off remaining foes efficiently, especially with her wide-area attack, Thunderfall, and her ability to rush toward enemies.
- Kain: Kain complements Gaia by providing AoE attacks, taking advantage of her Spell-in-Waiting and Fated Moment setups for massive damage.
- Warrior of Light: With skills that decrease damage taken while Gaia tanks, and increase team attack, he enhances her survivability and damage output during team fights.
Pairing Gaia with characters who can set up enemies to be slowed or stunned, and then quickly eliminate them, results in a very effective team strategy.
