The Auroral Armor is one of two distinct pieces of Auroral gear available in the game. Players can combine it with the Auroral Helm, giving their main character a heroic appearance for the duration of the game. Among the various vocations in DQ3 Remake, only the Hero can don both the Auroral Armor and the Helm, making this unique to the lead character of your party.

Where to Locate the Auroral Armor

Journey to the Correct Dungeon

To find the Auroral Armor, head to the Tower of Rubiss, located in a remote area in the northern part of your map. This spot nearly touches the northern edge of your realm, so navigate north along the world’s boundary to reach the Tower smoothly. Once there, you will need to ascend through multiple floors to access the Armor.

While the Tower of Rubiss isn’t the most extensive or intricate dungeon in the game, you’ll still encounter numerous monsters through random encounters on your way up. To locate the Auroral Armor, you will need to climb up to the fourth floor (4F) while battling through several foes.

As you navigate through the Tower, you may notice tiles decorated with yellow and blue diamond patterns across the floors. These tiles can alter your character’s movement, rotating the leader of your party in a new direction. When stepping onto a tile, one compass direction will briefly glow red, signaling which way your character will move for as long as they remain on it.

On the fourth floor, the only path to the Auroral Armor requires crossing a narrow bridge covered with these tiles. Every step alters your movement by 90 degrees, so be patient and take your time to understand how your controls are impacted. Falling off the bridge will drop your party to the floor beneath the Armor, making you start again.

The key to crossing the fourth-floor bridge is to remain on one tile until you’re aware of how every movement affects your direction. Adjust your party’s orientation to learn which commands correspond to up, down, left, and right before progressing. By repeating this process, you’ll eventually reach the far end of the bridge and find the Auroral Armor waiting in a chest.

Elemental Defense and Continuous Healing

One of the most significant advantages of the Auroral Armor is its ability to boost your Defense stat by 82 points, along with the item’s inherent protective attributes. Additionally, once equipped, the Armor offers two distinct effects:

• Decreases Damage Taken from Fire and Ice Spells
• Regenerates HP while Walking

The armor’s elemental resistances are particularly useful against spellcasters, especially formidable foes like the Chiromancer in DQ3 Remake. Many enemies remaining within the Tower of Rubiss after you acquire the Armor utilize fire and ice attacks, making the Auroral Armor a beneficial asset in completing the rest of the Tower, including the final boss fight.
