In the game 99 Nights in the Forest, your main goal is to survive, gather supplies, craft different recipes, and figure out how to get free diamonds. These diamonds unlock new classes called 99 Nights. A strange event called the Frog Invasion also begins randomly. When this happens, you’ll see the message “something is emerging from the ponds…” pop up on your screen.
Once this event starts, you’ll notice lots of colorful frogs of different sizes appearing near the ponds on your map. These frogs are the key to finding frog keys. Not all ponds will have these keys, but when you see a big frog key icon over a pond, you’ll need to use your Fishing Rod — usually found near your camp in a fishing cabin — to reel it in.
Before fishing for the frog keys, you’ll often have to deal with frogs guarding the pond. These frogs can hurt you with their tongue attacks, but if you’re quick, you can normally take them out easily. Be aware, though, that killing certain frogs will cause more to appear. For example, killing a medium-sized blue frog might make green frogs spawn, and taking out a large purple frog could bring more blue and green frogs along. Larger frogs also have a chance to drop keys, so don’t overlook them.
In the game, you’ll need to collect eight frog keys to unlock the special door in a pond with a whirlpool. Jump into the whirlpool to enter a secret room where you can put your keys into the eight locks on the door. When all are unlocked, the giant Frog King will hop out and challenge you to a fight. Expect to face waves of frogs—purple, blue, and green—as you battle him. Defeating the Frog King rewards you with special gear like Poisonous Frog Armor, Poisoned Spears, Poison Darts, and Frog Boots. Plus, completing this challenge and earning the Beastmaster badge grants you some extra diamonds for free.
