How To Obtain an Unstable Element and Solve the Underground Vault in Fortnite

Fortnite wouldn’t be complete without hidden loot spots and secret vaults, and Chapter 7, Season 1 is packed with both. Players exploring the new map might come across some interesting features like legendary loot in waterfalls, locked doors, and chests tucked behind destructible walls.

This season, underground tunnels are more than just paths across the island. Inside one of the collider tunnels, specifically Collider Corridor X, there’s a mysterious locked door with a valuable blue chest behind it — but you can only unlock it with a special item called the Unstable Element.

### How to Find and Use the Unstable Element

Beneath Innoloop Labs, in the heart of the Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 1 island, there’s a network of connected tunnels. One of these, Collider Corridor X, features a locked door with a treasure chest that you can hear from outside. Entering this door requires the Unstable Element, a rare item.

You can access these Collider Corridors by interacting with large hand icons at the end of each tunnel section. When you pass through, the corridors emit a pulse of energy; if you’re caught in it, you’ll gain up to 50 shield points.

Notably, the energy pulses make the buttons at the tunnel entrances glow green when safe to pass and red if dangerous, indicating the storm’s presence and potential damage.

To unlock the secret vault inside Collider Corridor X, head to Innoloop Labs. Jump down through the glass into the central area where a large floating crystal is located. Once you land, a prompt will appear indicating you’ve entered Collider Corridor X.

Go to either the left or right side of the tunnel to find a button. Before pressing it, make sure you have a free inventory slot — the Unstable Element only appears if there’s space to hold it. When you interact with the button, the Unstable Element will show up in your inventory.

With the Unstable Element, return to the locked door in the middle of the corridor. Use it to unlock the door, revealing a chest filled with high-value items such as:

– Chug Jug
– Epic or Legendary Holo Rush SMG
– Epic or Legendary Arc Lightning Gun
– Self-Revive Device
– Epic or better Enforcer Assault Rifle
– Rare or higher Vengeful Sniper Rifle
