How to Make Solder in Abiotic Factors by Completing and Solving

Soups are among the best things you can cook in Abiotic Factor, but there are other things you can make at the stove too. Sometimes, instead of food, you’ll need to create something else, like Solder.

Solder is made by combining certain metals and heating them until they melt into a liquid. Once it cools down, you’ll have some piles of Solder ready. A blacksmith who wears a mask is eager to get his hands on it. If you can produce some, you’ll gain access to a component the Synchrotron needs to work again.

How to Find the Solder Recipe

You need to locate the Blacksmith in Manufacturing West. His shop is called The Blacksmith and the F.O.R.G.E., and you can find him either by navigating through the safer Garage area or the more dangerous Crane zone. His workshop is near the bottom left side of Manufacturing West, close to the Tram Station.

At his station, there’s a Peculiar Boiling Pot sitting on the counter. You must analyze this pot to unlock the Solder recipe. Instead of crafting it directly, you’ll cook it in a pot like other soup recipes.

Note: You’ll need at least Cooking Level Three to make soups. You can reach this level easily by cooking large amounts of raw meat in a frying pan, such as Raw Pest Rump or Raw Alien Drumstick.

How to Make Solder

Once you have the recipe, you’ll need two ingredients: Silver Scrap and Metal Scrap. You can cook these in a Cooking Pot or a Makeshift Cooking Pot.

Fill the pot with clean water and place it on a powered stove—such as a Portable Stove. Open the radial menu by holding Interact, then add both types of scrap to the pot. This turns the contents into Uncooked Solder. It takes about five minutes and fifty seconds to cook unless you have Cooking Skill level 17 and the perk that speeds up cooking by 25%.

When the Solder is ready, remove it from the stove, set the pot down, and interact with it to gather four portions of Solder. These portions don’t need a bowl or any container.

Uses for Solder

With plain Solder, you can use it as a crafting material or trade it with the Blacksmith. Return to his base in Manufacturing West to do this. He will trade one Solder for one Fibre Optic Cable, a key component to repair the Synchrotron and advance the story. Solder is also used in crafting various items.

Additionally, Solder can be made into 12 different colors of paint, or used to create the Healing Briefcase—a deployable item that heals friendly characters within range after placing it down. The Briefcase can be recharged at any GATE Charging Station.

Note: Silver Scrap can be found as silver cutlery in passenger cars and the bar area in the Train Portal World. To access it, repair the Tram west of the Surface Tunnel in Manufacturing West with a Tram Operation Key, then ride it to where the Train’s Portal is located.
