“Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension” doesn’t have many surprises. Most of the missions you’ll complete are similar to those in the main story, with just one big exception.

Whether you’re familiar with the new donut-crafting system or not, there’s a tough challenge near the end of the game. Here’s how to make the best food item: the Bad Dreams Cruller.

Why You Need the Bad Dreams Cruller in Mega Dimension

It’s necessary to finish the story.

After finishing the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 6 main mission, you’ll return to Hotel Z and get a new task. To move forward with the story, the Rust Syndicate will ask you to make the Bad Dreams Cruller Donut. Completing this step will unlock the final parts of the DLC.

This is a set recipe that’s only related to the story. The Rust Syndicate will also give you the Épice Noire spice, which is needed to craft the donut, and they will tell you the recipe verbally.

Bad Dreams Cruller Donut Recipe

You need to gather berries to make it.

Once you have the Épice Noire spice, go to Ansha at Hotel Z. She will offer a new menu option: “I’d like to try that cruller recipe.”

Here’s the full list of the stats you need for the donut:

310 in sweet
310 in sour
100 in spicy
40 in bitter
40 in fresh

Focus mainly on achieving high sweet and sour flavors. Use berries that give at least 95+ in these categories (all Hyperspace quality). Then, work on spicy, bitter, and fresh flavors, in that order. It’s easier to plan backwards like this to make sure you get the right recipe.

3 Hyper Kasib Berries
3 Hyper Tanga Berries
1 Hyper Coba Berry
1 Hyper Yache Berry

How to Get the Spices for the Donut

You will need to grind for ingredients. Berries are scattered randomly, so your best bet is to visit Hyperspace Portals and destroy floating Poké Balls (which act like treasure chests). These will drop berries, and you’ll need a lot of high-quality Hyperspace Berries to succeed.

It’s recommended to start with the easier green Hyperspace Portals, using high-quality donuts (try not to spend all your berries at once). Complete all three objectives at each portal. When finished, a large golden Poké Ball will appear on the map, offering valuable rewards, often including more berries. It’s smart to target portals where you haven’t caught all Pokémon yet, so you can catch new ones and collect berries at the same time.
