Destiny: Rising features several systems and mechanics typical of a mobile game. While it provides a detailed tutorial explaining each aspect as you progress through the main campaign, the abundance of activities, currencies, and items can quickly become overwhelming.
One of the most important things to understand early on is the level system. Instead of simply replicating the systems from Destiny 1 and 2, this game combines familiar mechanics with new, unique features. Let’s explore how to level up in Destiny: Rising.
How to Level Up
There are two main aspects to focus on to make your characters stronger: Team Level and Power Level. The Team Level is a new mechanic specific to Rising, while Power Level is more familiar if you’ve played previous titles.
Team Level
In Destiny: Rising, you don’t level up individual characters. Instead, the entire group of characters you have increases in level together. As you pull new characters from banners, those characters will automatically match your current Team Level, maintaining balance.
Team Level is essentially your account level. Each character gains bonuses to stats like Power, Base Health, Base Shield, Base Defense, and Base Skill Strength. Reaching certain Team Level milestones unlocks new features. For example, at Level 46, new activities become available, and at Level 66, you get additional options to enhance your artifacts.
To increase your Team Level, you need to earn Team XP, which mainly comes from completing Primary Quests. Focusing on the main campaign will help you level up faster. Other activities also grant Team XP, such as:
- Completing Adventures like Haven Ops
- Exploring Jiangshi Metro (finding collectibles, taking photos, discovering Legacy Points)
- Completing Bounties
- Participating in modes like Gauntlet: Onslaught and the Legendary Weekly Campaign
The maximum Team Level cap currently stands at 79, though this may change after a few days.
Power Level
Power Level is different from Team Level and is specific to each character. It indicates how strong a character is individually and predicts their performance in missions. To raise a character’s Power Level, you need to:
- Equip better gear by looting stronger weapons
- Upgrade weapons with materials
- Enhance their Relic Abilities
- Improve their Artifacts
By upgrading these elements, your characters become more powerful, improving their chances of success in tough battles.
There is also a Reputation system that you can level up, but for detailed information, it’s best to consult a dedicated guide on that topic.
