Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a thoughtful game that takes its premise seriously. It avoids cheesy melodrama and focuses on its narrative with genuine care. Of course, it still has humor. Humanity always finds comedy in tragedy, and Verso’s Drafts showcases this perfectly.
In the darker, more whimsical parts of the game, there’s a land created by Verso filled with Gestrals just enjoying themselves—though their fun is often strange and challenging. One example is pixel-perfect diving board tests. To make things easier, we’ll guide you through landing in the rings smoothly.
How to Access the Diving Board
After entering Verso’s Drafts, head south until you find a diving board extending from a steep cliff, with several Gestrals waiting their turn. But there’s a problem: one Gestral isn’t cooperating.
They say it’s an act of revenge because something of theirs was stolen, and they refuse to move until it’s returned. You might think you need to find this item, but that’s not the case. Talking to the other Gestrals will lead to a surprising solution: Gestrals require Gestral solutions.
You just need to push the obstinate Gestral off the diving board—send him flying. Don’t worry; he’s fine. In fact, he’ll even congratulate you while floating in the water below, saying it was fun. The other Gestrals will thank you, and the diving board becomes available for you to use. Be prepared for repeat attempts, though, as this part can get frustrating.
How to Land in Each of the Rings
Once you’ve cleared the obstacle and the diving board, look below to see three colored rings in the water. If you talk to the Gestral nearby, he’ll complain that no one has successfully landed in his carefully placed ring. The game then explicitly tells you that landing in these rings from the diving board is part of the challenge.
Landing in the blue and yellow rings is pretty straightforward. The red ring is trickier and will test your patience. Luckily, you get rewards for each successful landing, rather than needing to land in all three.
Blue Ring
The blue ring is the easiest to hit. It’s close to the diving board and fairly wide, giving lots of room. It is slightly to the right, so you’ll need to jump at an angle.
Since the blue ring is close, you won’t need a long run-up. You just need to stand near the edge, aim, and then quickly jump while sprinting. You’ll see a splash if you land correctly.
Reward: A new hairstyle for Maelle.
Yellow Ring
The yellow ring is on the left side of the diving board. It’s a bit tighter to hit than the blue, but still manageable.
Same as before, line yourself up, take a quick sprint, and leap to reach the ring, making sure to watch for the splash. You’ll need to jump from further along the board, but still not all the way at the end.
Reward: A color of Lumina.
Red Ring
The red ring demands precision. Landing anywhere near it isn’t enough—your aim must be perfect, landing exactly in the center to trigger the splash.
For this, using Sciel is recommended. While anyone can make the same jumping distance, her animations make it easier to see where you are on the board, helping you aim more accurately.
To land in the red ring, wait until the last possible moment to jump. Walk to the edge to gauge your jump range before leaping. When you jump, turn slightly left just before leaving the board to get the right angle. Also, hold forward during the jump to continue moving forward in the air.
Additional Tip
When you fall, there’s a zip line right behind you that will take you back up to the diving board, making retries easier.
It takes many attempts and small adjustments to master this challenge, as it requires pixel-perfect precision. But you can do it. In return, you’ll gain a stylish new hairstyle for Monoco—the French Bob.
