Healing in Snake Eater isn’t as simple as pressing a button to use a healing item. It involves multiple mechanics working together, and the injuries you sustain in combat will affect how you need to heal. Your ability to regenerate health normally depends on having enough stamina, which decreases when healing. If your stamina runs out, you won’t be able to heal or perform other stamina-dependent actions.
Keeping a steady food supply helps maintain your stamina, making healing easier when needed.
To heal, you’ll need to access the Cure section in the Survival Viewer, which becomes available after reaching a certain point in the game.
While damage reduces your overall health, certain types of injuries cause additional effects that aren’t fixed by stamina-based healing alone. These require specific items to treat properly.
Here’s a look at some healing items and their functions:
– Disinfectant: Cleans a wounded area.
– Styptic: Stops bleeding.
– Splint: Stabilizes broken bones.
– Bandage: Covers wounds and supports bones.
– Suture Kit: Closes open wounds.
– Serum: Cures poisoning.
– Antidote: Treats food poisoning.
– Cold Medicine: Heals colds.
– Digestive Medicine: Eases stomachaches.
– Survival Knife: Removes bullets and arrows.
– Cigar: Eliminates leeches.
– Ointment: Heals burns.
Sometimes, you might need to use several healing items on the same injury. In cases where you lack the right items to fully heal a wound, you may need to partially treat it or heal separate aspects step-by-step.
Very rare Life Medicine can restore overall health rather than specific injuries. Save these for when your health is critically low.
