Like its predecessor, Hollow Knight: Silksong can be a challenging game. As Hornet, you’ll explore areas such as Moss Grotto, The Marrows, Deep Docks, and many more. To survive in each new place, you’ll need to learn how to heal yourself periodically.
There are two main ways to heal Hornet. The game teaches you about them as you play, but you might not learn every detail without some research. That’s why we’ve put together this simple guide to help you understand healing in Silksong.
How To Heal
There are two options for restoring Hornet’s health in Silksong.
Use Bind
Below your health bar, which is shown by masks, there’s a small meter called Silk. This meter charges each time you hit an enemy or interact with certain objects, like a cobweb. You can use Silk to perform skills or to heal yourself.
To use Silk for healing, the meter must be full. Then, hold the Bind button—available from the start—to begin charging. After a couple of seconds, Hornet will recover three masks. The total number of masks remains the same; only the current count increases.
Whenever the Silk bar is full and you can activate Bind, you’ll hear a sound, and Hornet will briefly light up to indicate readiness.
Bind is useful for healing during battle, but keep in mind: you are vulnerable while you are binding. Be sure no enemies can attack you until the healing process finishes. Plus, Silk is also used for Hornet’s special skills as you progress through the game. This means you should think carefully about when to fully empty the Silk bar to heal and when to save it for attacking enemies.
Sit On A Bench
As you explore, you’ll find benches that serve as checkpoints. Sitting on a bench will restore your health to full. If you die, you’ll respawn at the last bench where you rested. To sit, press Up on your D-Pad when standing next to a bench.
Some benches might need Rosaries to activate permanently. Always carry at least 30 Rosaries in case you find a new bench. Additionally, Shakra offers markers for your maps to show the locations of benches. Marking all benches costs 60 Rosaries.
