There are many new activities for your Sims to try in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature. One of the most charming and decorative options is pressing flowers and herbs into art pieces or candles using the Nature Press.
This expansion also introduces a variety of live houseplants that your Sims will need to plant and care for, similar to real-life gardening. Unlike decorative plants, these live plants require regular attention to stay healthy. If you want to connect with nature, here are some ways to do it.
How to Care for Houseplants
The game now features several live houseplants that need ongoing maintenance. Unlike in previous versions, where plants could be placed and then ignored, these require your Sim to check on them regularly.
To buy live houseplants, you need to purchase a pot from the Build Mode’s Plants section. These come in four shapes and many colors. You can also access them by clicking the plant icon in any room, especially if you’re sorting items by rooms. The plants cost around §240 each.
You can acquire live houseplants in a few ways:
- From garden plots where your green-thumb Sims grow fruits, vegetables, flowers, or herbs.
- From Build Mode while purchasing planters, which can be placed directly into pre-selected pots.
- From the shop in Innisgreen, located in the top-left corner of the neighborhood map.
Once you get a live plant, your Sim needs to care for it consistently. Remember which plants are alive and check on them often. If neglected, these plants can wither and die after a few days, requiring you to remove dead plants and replant new ones. Make sure your Sims can reach the plants easily, or they might decay quickly.
Using the Nature Press for Decoration and Preservation
Just like in real life, pressing plants can serve as keepsakes. In The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature, your Sims can create pressed flowers, decorate candles, and more by preserving their plants.
To make these, you’ll need a variety of plants, such as those grown through Gardening, foraged items from the Natural Living skill, market-bought fruits and vegetables, herbs, and even processed goods like jams or berry preserves. Many of these items can be purchased directly from the Nature Press.
Fairy Sims can also use fairy dust to make enchanted versions of these items, which can influence their mood. The recipes are the same, but you’ll need one pile of fairy dust to enchant the item, adding a magical element to your collection.
