Since Wuthering Waves was first revealed, one advantage over other open-world gacha games has been how much freedom you have while exploring its endless world. You can jump higher and climb walls easily because the game allows you to run on vertical surfaces.
The developers regularly introduce new exploration tools with each region. During the Version 3.0 update, the standout was the Expedition Motorbike. It feels very smooth to ride once you get used to the mechanics, making it easy to explore Lahai-Roi without feeling slow.
How to Get and Use the Expedition Motorbike
Fortunately, you don’t need to do anything special to obtain the bike. When you arrive in Lahai-Roi, the first character you meet will be Lynae. She will not only save you but also guide you through important tasks to enroll at the academy. During this process, you’ll receive an ID card and will go to meet S.I.G.M.A, a mecha-human. This occurs in the main story, and after talking to S.I.G.M.A, you’ll unlock your Expedition Motorbike. Once available, you can go to the Utilities section in the main menu and assign the bike to a hotbar slot.
You can also access this by opening your radial hotbar for utilities and editing it. During a quest, you’ll get your first upgrade for the bike, allowing you to jump twice every few seconds. When you use the bike from your utility bar, your character will spawn onto it. You can control it with your usual controls and give it a speed boost by pressing the boost button on the bottom right.
The bike has limited turning capability under normal conditions. The best way to turn is by using the brakes while pressing the turn key, which causes a drift—letting you turn in any direction easily. You can even do donuts by standing still and drifting.
Using the Bike for Cliffs and Exploration
Most cliffs in Lahai-Roi are silver with patterns and are shaped like slopes rather than traditional mountains. You can use your Expedition Motorbike to scale these cliffs as long as you have some boost left. Near the top, pressing jump can send you very high, making it easier to reach high places for exploration or solving puzzles.
How to Upgrade the Expedition Motorbike
Upgrading your bike doesn’t require any special actions. You just need to gather modding experience points (EXP), which you get by completing various activities: finishing the main story, fighting enemies or world bosses—even if you don’t use your powers—and exploring Lahai-Roi. You also gain EXP by fighting Tacet Discord Nests in Lahai-Roi daily.
As you level up your bike, you’ll receive rewards in the main menu under the Expedition Motorbike section. Each level increases your bike’s abilities, including an energy tank boost and shorter cooldowns between boosts.
How to Upgrade and Equip Mods
In the third tab of the bike menu, you’ll find tasks to earn Antivoid Modding Points. Some tasks are permanent, while others are temporary based on current game events. These points can be used to boost your bike with various buffs, like a special attack when dismounting near enemies, which deals heavy damage and helps build Tune Break.
How to Customize Your Expedition Motorbike
You can personalize your bike’s appearance by customizing its colors. The bike’s paint is divided into left, right, and top sections, each of which can be colored separately. To get different colors and symbols, you can:
- Complete Act One of the main quest to unlock Lynae’s bike colors.
- Participate in limited-time events such as the Persona or Sonic collaborations.
- Finish world quests in Lahai-Roi.
- Submit specific items like the Tapes of Last Words and Soliskin at designated locations.
- Purchase premium paint packs from the shop using real money.
This customization allows you to make your bike truly unique as you explore the thrilling world of Lahai-Roi.
